weird sound from rear end on startup

ladies and gents we have a new noise coming from my 20 gt. this car does have magneride on it. on startup about a second or 2 after it turns over, you hear 2, 1 second long, noises back to back coming from the rear of the car. i havent gotten under it yet to see where the exact location is at yet. best way i can describe the sound is when a vending machine spits out your dollar bill but its higher pitch.

has anybody heard of this at all? im the original owner and ive never heard this sound before. garage kept and the temp outside is roughly 50F so its not that cold. the car does have magneride but im not seeing any lights or warnings on the dash.

Got a video of the sound by chance? It may also be coming from the engine and traveling through the exhaust. Squeaky belt possibly?

If you have the active exhaust, perhaps checking the actuators is an idea. I'm not aware of any other moving parts back there (other than the fuel pump, perhaps, as mentioned)?

thank you for all of the replies! the color is amazing i would have to agree. the only thing i could think of was the actuators cause i do have active on mine. i havent had time to get under it yet. i thought i could be the fuel pump but ive never had any weird idles or surges. there was a time where the valves wouldnt open on startup for about a minute then they finally opened up. i might check there first and see

The valves have been known to squeak, more so on aftermarket kits but also on the OEM. Take some WD-40 with the skinny extension and spray a little bit on the valves.

The actuators themselves are sealed and sit on top of the mufflers, you’d have to drop the exhaust and take the actuator off to get at it.

yea i do have active exhaust and believe me they squeak loudly. lol i have done the wd-40 and it lasts typically around a month. i have corsas and you have to rotate the oem controller for the valves to have them seat correctly which leaves some openings. BUT the sound that im hearing, its not really a screaching sound. its more like a high pitched metallic whine sound

check your rear shock mount. It may be cracked or the bolts me be loose. and while your back there check you exhaust mounts.
