Tried searching for posts regarding this issue but I couldn't find any. Maybe you might be able to help.

I'd like to say it's around the transmission/clutch/driveshaft area but when in idle, it makes a weird sound. I don't have an audio clip yet (it's coming), but I'll tell you how you can hear it. Grab a sheet of any old printer paper with your dominant hand. Hold it tight so that it won't slip out. With the opposite hand - using your thumb and middle finger, grab onto the paper across from your dominant hand. Now with a little pressure, slide those two fingers straight off the sheet of paper. Do you hear the friction sound that your fingers make when sliding off the sheet? That's what I hear coming from under the car. Except it's repeating often and quickly - which would suggest that it's a moving part. I noticed it way back in December when I first got the car but thought it was something that just needed to be broken in. I think we can say now in June and 4800 miles later that it's broken in. If anything the sound has become more noticeable.

Interestingly enough, the car shifts well and there's no other unusual sounds or smells coming from it. Of course, it's also possible that I just can't hear it over my exhaust.

I've only heard of two other cases with a similar sound issue coming from underneath the car and both ended up in the dealership for over a month. What do you all think?

My current mods are wheels, tires, exhaust, and a few LEDs around the exterior and interior. They can't blame it on that stuff can they? I mean, I think we all know how warranty claims go now a days -.-

Any information helps. :brokenheart:

EDIT:
So my paper friction sound theory was a little off..
Here's a little audio clip:

You have waited since December,so just wait till something breaks, then have it towed to the Ford Dealer and get it fixed. If that was my car I would have had it looked at when you got the car, and not waited for 7 months to now worry about it.

Click on that link in the first post for an audio sample :/ I think it may be my throwout bearing.

Eh my car does that every now and then. Press in the clutch and it goes away. I haven't worried about it yet... hasn't appeared to cause issues with issues or performance. I find it happens after the car has sat for several days.

That's how mine started off too. Except now it's louder, and does it even when I press in the clutch. Dropped it off at the dealership this morning. Will update this thread as soon as I hear back.

My car makes the same noise.
Should be getting a call back from the dealership today. I'm 60% sure it's going to be the throwout bearing and I'm hoping it's something as simple as it needing to be lubed. I'll keep you guys posted.

Just heard back from the dealership, they could not replicate the noise. Going back in tomorrow morning for a road test, although I don't need one. Car just needs to get up to operational temperatures before the noise comes in - that's all I need to express since the sound happens while in idle and not while driving.

I only hear it at idle, particularly with the clutch out. I think it goes away if you get on the gas a little bit, even with the clutch out.

Mine only happens when the car sits for awhile. Press in the clutch is goes away. Best I can tell once I start driving it .. it goes away as well. Usually have windows down and don't hear it while sitting in traffic.

After visiting the dealership today again, they do not think it's anything urgent. They did confirm it is making a lightly unusual sound but the gentleman was pushing it off because he said that Ford would request pictures and that if they saw my exhaust they'd blame it on that (or ask me to revert to stock). He just told me to keep an ear out for any intense progression. Since it's not affecting the way the car drives, he said it should be okay. Going back later today to bring the car home. I mean, they're the experts. As long as they guarantee that it won't be a hazard to me, I'll be fine I guess.

I think my car makes the same noise as you video - I have an automatic tranny, no mods (yet). Happens at idle only.

I have the auto clunking noise that many others have when being put in drive that is unrelated to this issue. I took out the head tech guy at the dealership and he noticed the same noise as yours while we were idle on the side of the road and said it sounded like a heat shield or something was rattling. I have yet to address this with them as I am waiting for a new AC compressor to come in.

I'll have them take a look at this rattling issue when the AC gets done - hopefully next week. I have an axle-back to install, but want both of these fixed first so they can't assign any blame to mods.

Please keep me updated on what they say in regards to the noise. I might have to use another dealership. Coincidentally, my car seems to have stopped the noise after I brought it back home. I didn't think of heat shield though...that could be possible.

After my car sat for over a week .. drove it on Saturday to a Cars and Coffee event and did not notice the sound.. it is definitely intermittent. Some I have showed think it is flywheel chatter and say not to worry about it. I am just going to wait until it is more persistent if it gets that way to take it to the dealership. The less stops I have to do there the better.
