So I installed my new 20" American Muscle Performance Package replica wheels the other day and decided to clean them up with some Invisible Glass windshield foam cleaner. I wiped them down and was good to go. I took it for a drive the next day and started noticing a slight grind when pressing the brake at times. I'm wondering if the overspray got on the rotors and left a film and now my pads are glazed over. I took the car up to about 70mph and pressed the brakes pretty hard thinking it might get rid of the grind and it is still there. Very odd.... Any suggestions on what to do to get rid of the grind??

I took the rotors off and cleaned them up. Took it for a spin again and I am still feeling a weird grind and very slight vibration in the brakes. I'm wondering if I'm just feeling the new tires coming to a stop since I upgraded to a larger wheel and tire. I don't know what else to do. The pads and rotors looked great. This literally just happened after I installed the new wheels.

Did you torque your lug nuts down?

Yes sir.. I'm gonna swap my stock wheels back out and see if I get the same grind/vibration when I apply the brakes when coming to a stop. If so I might look at replacing my rotors

You know there is a TSB for squealing brakes on the GT non-PP models, right? I have attached the TSB info.

It's not high pitched squeal... More like the pad is biting real hard on the rotor when the brake is applied. Almost like there is small pebbles in the pads... Obviously there isn't, but you get the drift.

Torque down the wheels to 150. Make sure your dust shield is not bent and hitting the rotor.

I have torqued the lug nuts down and even tried re-bedding the brake pads again. I am still hearing/feeling a slight humming/grind noise when coming to a complete stop around 30 MPH to a stop. I looked at the TSB 15-0030 and it states 02/2015 and before for build dates effected. I looked on my door panel and mine is 03/15, so would this TSB still cover my vehicle? Like I said, I am not experiencing the very high pitched squeal like others are, but it is still a grind/humming when pressing the brakes when coming to a complete stop from 30 MPH to a stop.

Did a check and found out that my car was built during the time of the current TSB for the brake issue. When I get back from vacation next month I'm taking it in to the dealer first thing.

Ya try bending the heat shields back and make sure they are rubbing the rotors or no rocks are wedged between them and the rotors.

I checked and it doesn't look like its touching the rotors at all... But I will recheck again. I don't think it is because I can only hear and feel it when I apply the brakes coming to a complete stop.

Glad to see you are going to take it in for the TSB. That should fix your issue.

Odd... I swap my 20" American Muscle Performance Pack replica wheels out with my stock ones and the brake grinding goes away. There are no signs of any scraping on the wheels or anything. Wondering if maybe a small pebble or something was trapped in between the pads or something. I'm not sure but I will swap the wheels out one more time to see if it is in fact the wheels causing the noise.

What the F 'n F! I put the 20" American Muscle Performance Package Replica wheels back on and the damn grind/humming comes back! I'm at a loss of ideas on what is causing it. I know the wheels in general are a little heavier than the stock 19" wheels are, but not to the extent that they will make a grind noise when breaking at low speeds. Once I switched back to the stock wheels, the noise completely went away.
