So, I became a very happy father of a little baby girl two days ago.

As the Mustang is my daily driver, I will carry her in a reverse faced infant car seat.
There is probably many fathers here, so I want to ask for tips to watch over the baby while driving. Did you guys buy a simple mirror or some cool camera gadget? Where did you mount it?

Thanks for all the tips!

Congrats! I'm no father, but I would bet a mirror would do the trick! Camera sounds too expensive and could clutter the dash with a separate screen.

A mirror is all you need.

Best thing you can do is pay more attention to the road. Congrats on your new baby girl!

We have a mirror in our Honda Pilot. That is our family car, I also have a car seat in my truct but we rarely us that. I've never taken my 2 y/o in my mustang. Way too much of a PITA to get a car seat in the rear.

Congrats on the baby girl. :) I have a 13 month old girl myself. She's still rear facing and will probably remain so until she's at least two.

No need to install anything -- mirror, camera, or otherwise -- and it would be better if you didn't. God forbid it but if you ever crash and the gadget you installed comes loose, it can hit the baby at upwards the speed you were driving on impact. You're not supposed to have anything attached to the infant carrier, either, like gadgets to keep them preoccupied. Anything can become a projectile in a bad wreck and there have been infant fatalities as a result.

Tons of mirrors you mount on a rear seat headrests available. Give it a try - I think I bought mine at Target.

just use your ears and keep your eyes forward

mirror would be huge distraction, you'll constantly be looking at it.

grats on the baby!

I have 4 kid's 4 years old and younger. I get to drive 2 or 3 around in the stang every now and then. As long as they are healthy, they are fine. The 3 monyh old and 1.5 year old will fuss and cry sometimes, that's normal. No reason to look at them .

2 kids for me. 14 and 8 now.

No need to "watch" them when they are sitting reverse. just make sure they are in the pumpkin seat properly with head supported. As they get a few months old, you will simply wonder what they are giggling about.

around 12 months, flip them foreward and enjoy.

Sounds like new father syndrome. Congrats BTW!

Honestly, there is no need for the mirror or a way to see the baby for that matter. I had one for my first child due to being worried and it all being new to me, but once the second one came I didn't even bother installing the mirror.

Guess you'll have to trade in the Mustang for a minivan now-- much more kid friendly! :D
