Just wanted to verify the rear down tube mounting holes should be in line with the spot welds?

Oh,

You only get one shot at it, so double, triple, and quadruple check you spots before you drill. There is no slop and if you are off by an eighth of an inch, you are F'd.

Take your time. Its tight working underneath and you will probably reach a point where you say F it, just drill. Take a step back, take a break, and measure again. I'm not kidding, there is zero tollerance for a screw up. The ones that do wind up welding the rear arms.

Thank you, that's where I was yesterday, measured again, walked away and came back to the forum for insight

Not to be a pain in the ass, but check it again. Also, use drill bits made for hardened steel. Use a punch to keep the bits from walking. Make paper templates traced from the arm bracket and lay them out as pictured in my post. There is no slop, so take your time.

And this is why I brought my car directly to Watson and had them do it.
Dropped it off, picked it up two days later all done

Good folks at Watson. I had a custom run of chromoly steel bars made (40 pounds vs the 70 I might add). Frank at Watson worked with me to make that happen. I agree, Watson doing the job is the best option if you have any doubt about your ability to get the job done. They do this job all day long. They are just outside of Detroit. For some, that is not an option.

Oh, and one more thought...... There are electrical harnesses, fuel lines, and brake lines running interference with your drill locations. Be aware and move/protect what you can.

yes they are. I’ve dealt with frank and chuck directly.

I’ve actually driven two of my cars there, dropped them off, flew home, flew back a week later to pick them up. But I did it during Woodward and gingerman each time so there was a method to my madness.
Last summer I trailered my 2000R there for them to go thru it and freshen it up. Came home with empty trailer, flew back a week later to pick it up, and then drove home after the Woodward dream cruise.

What a great trip that probably was.
