Hello I have a 2016 gt and I want to put long. Tubes and cold air intake and some fuel injectors and a e85 tune but I want to know if it would void my extended warranty? I only have roush axle backs rn and a x pipe, I really want to build my car but I feel like I need warranty especially since this is my daily. I just bought it July 06 2021 with 6k miles but my current warranty is only good for 36k and I’m already at 16,500. Will purchasing extended warranty be pointless ?

As I understand it, warranty isn't really "voided" rather warranty work can be denied because of modifications, but of course that's just semantics.

For instance, if you add the intake, headers, E85 etc, and you blow the motor, the dealership may (and likely will) deny a warranty claim, because of the modifications. However, if your wheel bearing fails, they would honor the warranty claim. Also, keep in mind certain dealerships are more "mod friendly" than others.

The very fact you are asking leads me to believe the warranty is of significant value to you. It may be more prudent to leave the car alone until it expires so you have some peace of mind. Good luck!

Are you talking about the standard bumper to bumper warranty (36 months) that you get when the car is new or did you buy extra warranty?

Isn't the basic powertrain 60K/5 years ? When was the original in service date ? That would be critical.

The dealer that threw in an extended warranty when I bought my car last November covers these according to the rep

Hell yeah youll void your powertrain warranty, which is what extended warranties are usually good for. I wouldnt play if you are afraid you might have to pay...

Agree. Somewhere in the fine print will be the lawyer speak pertaining to modifications. Mods, depending on what, can be expensive after the fact.

I think I'd be checking with the company backing the policy.

"AS installed by the factory" most likely. Very unlikely that an aftermarket warranty is going to cover modifications to the "engine, transmission".

My '16 feels like a different beast compared to stock form. Night and day...

Before you go adding power though, what tires are you running? If you're running the all season stock tire, this should be one of the first upgrades. Have you thought about any suspension work to put down the power you already have a little better? Lastly, Ford offers varying tune kits that shouldn't void your warranty. This might be a good start to satisfy the need while the car is under warranty.
Goodlooks bro and yeah I’m actually looking for tires atm the Perelli‘s are trash and I was thinking coilovers and spacers after

They said the warranty is no good cause it’s 5 years old so they offered me the warranty I have now

You answered your own question then. Don't do those modifications. Adding power means adding stress, so a major failure is more likely. Just the nature of the game.
