Hey guys,

I joined a couple weeks back and have been soaking up all the great info from the forum. It's great to find a bunch of people as crazy about the Mustang as I am!

Mine is currently in Baltimore waiting to be assigned a vessel, and after reading about the wait many of you suffered, I am trying (unsuccessfully) to be patient :kickrock:

So today, after completing my daily ritual of checking the WWL tracking site and seeing the 'No records found' message again, I thought I'd research the whole shipping process and see how it's done. I stumbled upon this article about how Chevrolet did it in the '70s for one particular car. Thought I'd share, some of the elder statesmen on here may even remember :D

For goodness sake don't give Ford ideas. Could wipe out numerous cars in one fell swoop with that method ;)

My first thought too! Their engineers had that one covered apparently:

"...Vega engineers had to design a special engine oil baffle to prevent oil from entering the No. 1 cylinder, batteries had filler caps located high up on the rear edge of the case to prevent acid spilling, the carburetor float bowl had a special tube that drained gasoline into the vapor canister during shipment, and the windshield washer bottle stood at a 45 degree angle..."

So Chevy designed a car round about their chosen shipping method...

I suppose we should be grateful that Ford didn't silicon the windows to prevent water ingress whilst under 4ft of snow at Baltimore...or underseal the body to prevent corrosion...

Still, at least they've stocked up on spares for us :D

I think its a fine line

So I've ordered a GT coupe in race red. Only extra I got was the rear sensors. First time I test drove, I forgot to even look at the shaker or sat nav, was so caught up with that V8

Hope to be able to post about my collection experience soon, with a load of pics of course :)

Same order date as me! Mine was built on 19th and i'm still hanging around somewhere in USA.

Hopefully they don't see this approach and stack ours like this now!

Fingers crossed for start of October collections all round!
