So I've been milling around buying a 2016 gt, and have a few questions about importing a vehicle. Right now the USD is stronger than CAN dollar, so the conversion rates work in USA favor.

I've done a little research and think I could accomplish the necessary steps (ref: http://www.ezbordercrossing.com/the...e/importing-vehicle-from-canada/#.ViaC0H6rRhE) to get it back to the states.

My question is financing. Would any US bank finance an auto purchase in Canada?

Also how willing are the CAN dealers to negotiate price on an ordered vehicle (2016 GT, white, manual, GT PP, Recaro)?

US MSRP=$37,580
CAN MSRP=44,349.00 CAD (=34,151.72 USD)

Any thoughts/suggestions welcomed!

I don't think it's feasable, i bought my 2011 GT in the sates back in 2010 when the CDN dollar was at par with USD. The only way i was able to do it was to pay for the car in full.

I think the same procedures would apply for importing a car to the US from Canada.

As far as rebates and such on a car that is being paid in full, well i'm pretty sure you'd be getting whatever discounts apply at the time of purchase.
Employee pricing and 1K Costco only applies during summer.

Are youa current or former US Military or Govt Civilian? If so USAA will finance you. Gave me 1.99% and I'm in Germany.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not military :( Looks like it will be a little more trouble than it's worth for me. Not to mention the speedo will still be in KPH - I wouldn't mind, but not good for resale in the US.

OP, any updates? I'm considering doing this as well.

Only update is that I just put a deposit on a car here in the US yesterday. No canada car for me.

I cared too much about the speedo being in KPH and also, I couldn't get financed on an out of country vehicle.

If you don't care about the speedo, and are paying cash. I think you could work it out to some pretty good savings. (if you find a dealer willing to work with you on price).

Good luck

Ford has a policy of not allowing US & Canadian dealers to sell across the border. Rebates are zip code specific and don't apply when sold across the border. And worse, a dealership caught selling across the border faces repercussions from Ford.
