Seems like the question has been answered, but to share personal experience with a range of Conti, Michelin, and Bridgestone tires - for a given performance level, Bridgestone seem consistently louder than the Michelin and Conti when new, and they get even louder with time. Both Conti and Michelin seem pretty quiet when new, but I can hear the Contis more as they wear - Michelin seem to maintain their characteristics much better through their life. I went from half-worn but aged Conti ExtremeContact DW (predecessor to the current ExtremeContact Sport) to Michelin PS4S on my E39 M5 and the noise improvement was significant. Now a few thousand miles in, and the Michelins still ride and sound like new.

Bridgestone tires I've had have had great grip, but they roar like crazy and ride like they're full of cement.
