Upgraded my Base to the Performance Pack Splitter!

Hey everyone,


So as I sit here typing with slightly bloody fingers, after about 2 hours of messing around with clips and screws, I have successfully upgraded my Base model GT to the Performance Pack splitter.

Total time for the install could be done in under an hour if you had:

1- The car on a lift
2- A second pair of hands to help maneuver the belly pan into position

I however took on the job with a set of Rhino ramps on my own, and it took a bit of patience to get it all in place and properly fitted with all the screws and clips.

Only needed very minor trimming to a piece of plastic that extended from the wheel liner on each side to allow all the clips to be fitted, but literally 30 seconds with a stanley blade and that was easily remedied.

Super pleased with the upgrade; very happy I chose to put my money into this.

For those who also would like to upgrade, you will need to get the PP belly pan in order to fit the PP splitter. If you can't source it used you can buy it Ford for $185.

The splitter was bought from OEM take offs for just under $90, and the PP belly pan was bought used from [MENTION=13551]suckerv[/MENTION] (thanks again for the great job you did with properly wrapping it up to ensure no damage during shipping)

Thats the PP belly pan. Note the air guides for the brake cooling.

Yep @DansEBM it will fit just fine, despite looking different to the base belly pan. You will see once you remove the stock splitter and belly pan that it will slip into place and bolt up no problem.

I did this on my ecoboost, I installed the gt pp chin spoiler and used my stock belly pan non gt, just an exacto knife and tons of patience

What information do you need?

You just need these two parts:

Installation is pretty simple. Just remove all the bolts and clips on the underside of the belly pan and it will fall down for easy removal. Then simply pop the splitter away from the bumper...just a few push clips that need some gentle persuasion to break it free. Then simply install the new PP splitter and offer up the PP belly pan into place. It will attach using your original hardware, but the PP splitter comes with a bag of hardware incase you need to use any extras.

Do you think the under-car pan/valance air flow direction for brake cooling of the PP brakes would in any way be sub-optimal for our NON-PP brakes? I can't imagine that would be the case, but you have been there and done that and would probably notice if the two pans look that much different from each other. Thanks for pursuing this awesome looking mod!

If you were working the car hard (say at a track day) and building up considerable heat in the brakes, you would certainly benefit from the extra air flow from the brake cooling belly pan 'scoops'. With that said, I think in most normal driving conditions it really won't have much of an appreciable effect.

Care to be a little more specific on the tons of patience? How much cutting was involved? I'm considering getting the PP splitter.

Honestly took about an hour maybe more to use some snippers and a sharp scalpel type knife. Now I was installing an atm fmic so I ordered the gt pp lip because I had to remove the bumper for the fmic. I took off the old lip, bolts clips and screws came with my lip once that was put on I had the car jacked up pretty high. I took my stock belly pan and tried fitting it as best as I could, when I did so I could clearly see where it needed to be cut or clipped. Then I would hold it up and I worked it like that until I was able to fit it best possible way, I was not able to get anywhere near all the original bolts and pop clips back in, but I made sure I found holes in the most important places until I felt comfortable. In my opinion it was worth it not paying $200, but it took some patience. Plus you get the satisfaction of doing it yourself. It's not like it's a hard job, it's a piece of plastic, but good luck I think you can do it easy

Well actually it wouldn't be me doing the cutting or installing. I will be having a shop install my fmic and since the front bumper will be off, I am thinking about having them put on a PP splitter. I wanted to know if the cutting and fitting was a pain in the ass or somewhat easy so I know what to tell them. From what you're saying, it sounds like they should be able to handle it. Thanks man!!
