CRAP! I saw this post and thought 3.8 was finally released. According to the Ford customer care rep I talked to, he thought it would be out around the end of the year. There hasn't been another update since I bought my car in March 2015 and I missed when 3.8 was posted of that brief time.

Is that a file you downloaded? If so, what features do you have in your car/sync? I'm not even sure which features matter other than Nav.

Why would Ford pull v3.8 off their website? Seems they should keep it available to anyone who wants to download and install it.

There was a problem reported by some users that when they did the upgrade they lost Navigation, that spot on the screen just was blank.

I can tell you for a fact the 3.8 update works fine on the Mustang. I upgraded mine and still have Nav. All Sync 3.8 installs are the exact same. Below is a link to the files if you want them.

Yes but did you down load it? I ask because it's important to know what options you have as your account will let you download only the file that is correct for your VIN. If you downloaded it then we know, it you got it from somewhere else, that might actually take functionality away if loaded.
If you downloaded it, do you have navigation? I don't think it would matter but what stereo level do you have?

It is works much differently. Looks wise it is the exact same but Siri is much more intuitive. Instead of saying a very specific structured phase for Sync, you can say simple things like "Play all songs" to Siri and it will play all songs on shuffle. It also understands band names and things much better than Sync.

All Sync 3.8 files are the same, I am telling you. I installed files from a F-150 forum on a C-Max, a Focus ST and an Explorer all without a single issue, all using the same files.

No I havent tested it as I have sync3, but as jstumpy mentioned its all the same files as long as its OEM hardware from ford, works on all models
p.s if each car needed a different file can you imagine how many files owner.ford.com has to store in servers?

I didn't mean they would have a separate file for each car, they would have a separate file for each combination of options.
So maybe you're correct and the Ford Customer Care Rep is wrong then but he said that the file is dependent on the options you have in your car. I told him a forum member had a 3.8 file he could share. He said that would be fine if the file was used before without problems and if the file came from a user that had the same options, navigation was the only thing he mentioned specifically. I'm not saying from the same car.

Even if you have Nav, there is no difference in the upgrade files. The hardware is all the exact same. The ONLY difference is on Nav cars, they have a Nav license key stored on the APIM. But if you have Nav already, you already have the Nav license. THAT is how Sync knows you have Nav, not based on the the update files.

HAHA, SO true!!! The first 2 people I talked to were obviously very clueless and said things I knew for a fact weren't true. Eventually I got to someone at a different level that seemed to know quite a bit more but I got the feeling he was telling me what he needed to to get me off the phone.
So how could I get the file and has anyone used it successfully?

SEE I told ya!............well the one I have in my dropbox came from a mustang owner who basically was happy enough to share the link (the file is as-is from ford owner site, untouched) to spread the love, but again its at your own risk
