If you are talking about the 3.8 update, it adds Siri hands free, that's about it. It is awesome though if you have an iPhone.

Nope, not with Sync 3 being out.
I wish auto manufacturers made their head units for modular. Like a standard connection maybe, so we could upgrade to sync 3. Or start doing something more like Tesla has where they all run the same head unit and they just keep updating them all with software updates. It's a shame to have to replace the whole car just to get a better entertainment system. :frusty:

I'm pretty sure you can replace it with a sync 3 unit, but you'll have to replace the entire module, I think they are like $700-$1000+, not cheap.

Only $500, but still not that cheap

yeah i was checking that out.. but it will probably just be in the same boat in another year when sync 4 or something better comes out. It doesn't sound like sync 3 is being flourished with updates either. Ford needs to hire more developers :D

People replace cars every 5 years but phones and entertainment interfaces every 2 years. Wish the car manufactures would figure this out.

I noticed Ford won't let you down load the new Sync2 update file v3.8 unless you run a vehicle health report on your car. the "Start Download" button is greyed out and inactive. I'm assuming the button becomes active once you run the Vehicle Health Report.

Message says:
"If you have a US Market 2010 or newer model year vehicle, please run a Vehicle Health Report prior to downloading the latest software update."

My Sync2 works fine, so probably won't even bother updating it.

Doesn't matter if you run the health check, Ford pulled 3.8 off the site and are not putting it back. 3.8 has been stable on my 2 Fords and several buddies of mine so it is safe to install manually.

You use the same button as you normally do to activate the Sync voice control except you hold the button for 2 seconds instead of momentarily pressing it and then you get siri chiming in.
