Unleashed vs. Bama Tune

I have the Bama tunes (performance 93 octane and race 93 octane).

But I've had an itch lately to try out a different tune or two to see if I can break that irritating 5 second 0-60 barrier the car seems stuck at. Unleashed sells a tune file for my SCT X4 device for $150. Who else has the Unleashed tune, and how did it perform for you?

Torrie, the owner of Unleashed, has had really good feedback on here. Do a search of Unleashed and you'll find plenty of positive feedback. I'd say that you'll like it much better than the Bama tune.

No comment on Bama as Ive never dealt with them.
My experience with Torrie has been "he exceeds all expectations". I had a SCT X3 for my FoST that came equipped with a Randy/FSWerks tune (bought the tuner from another FoST owner) and while the tune was better over stock, it still wasn't all that. I had many reviews about Torrie and his tunes, had exchanged many emails (and his response time is rediculous, you just hit send and he's replying back) and he would answer every trivial email and I hadn't even sent him a dime yet. His responses are short and to the point (he's not long winded like me) but you will get the answer you need. So his customer service is top notch. And his tunes....Wow! Torrie's tune had awesome power and torque more so than Randy's but on the other hand, rode extremely smooth if you wanted to. And his E30 tune was like adding nitrous to the 93 tune! When I traded in the FoST on the Stang, there was no question or hesitation who was going with when I hit the 1k mark.
I say spend the $150, you'll be glad you did (no offense to Bama).

Hey - He runs a good operation and we have only positive things to say about him. If you're going to be doing a comparison I'd love to see and hear your feedback. If you're itching for that 5 second mark I'm sure we could get you there though with a sticky set of rear tires!

I'd need the full meal deal. These stock rims and tires are absolute crap. 17x7.5 and get about as much traction as a fat guy at a goth convention.

Only trouble is the cost. Rims + Tires + Sensors are pricey! Your prices are competitive, Alex, but it's still looking like it's too rich for my blood.

Hell, I don't even care what they look like at this point, but if there's a better combination under $1200 -- all 4 tires, wheels, sensors -- out the door I'd pull the trigger (didn't see one on your site, but you know your products better than I do). Otherwise I need to wait a few months until I have the scratch. I didn't buy the Ecoboost base because I was loaded!

Anyway, I'll do a write up and real world comparison test between the tunes. I'll provide both the butt dyno results and the track apps 1/8 mile and 0-60 comps.

:lol: I know how you mean right...They leave a lot to be desired..Either way we don't push sales here and I'm not commission based. I don't even know what I'm interested in at the moment. I've known I need new wheels/tires for awhile. But when it comes to Mustangs, I'm an armchair quarterback. Lots of forum browsing, lots of watching, not much real world experience.

I'll probably open a thread and ask for recommendations. What I know for a fact is that I'd want staggered 10s in the back, 8.5 or 9 in the front. Beyond that... hell if I know, at this point.

I have had 3 different tunes on my EB can't really tell any difference in peak power between them with my butt dyno but they all have some distinct differences.

1. SCT canned tune set up for 93 octane. Throttle response is a little abrupt (not as bad as when I tried there tune on my Focus ST) but otherwise very linear. At WOT the tune is extremely rich.

2. STEEDA 93 octane. Very smooth throttle response just like stock. The boost hits more abruptly which is entertaining. At WOT throttle not as rich as the SCT tune.

3. Unleashed 93 octane. Very smooth throttle response just like stock. The boost comes on in a more linear fashion than the Steeda. Not as rich as the SCT, about the same as Steeda. Stock, SCT and Steeda the air/fuel is 13.8 to 14.1 when cruising. With the Unleashed its 14.6 to 14.9, this has equated to about 1 mpg in my daily commute and less soot on my tail pipe tips.

As everyone else has said Torrie is extremely responsive. Steeda hasn't been as fast getting back to you but they do respond. SCT doesn't provide the kind of support either Steeda or Unleashed does but they continuely update there tune files that you can down load and if you run into trouble they can remote access the device and help you trouble shoot the problem but be prepared to be on the phone for awhile.

I hear you on this - it's about the look and performance but based on what you're saying i think you'd benefit from a wider rear. Despite a larger wheel being heavier you'd likely hit your mark with low fuel and good conditions.
