Well bought my ecoboost about a year ago and in July I got the dreaded recall letter saying I needed to bring it in, I do not drive the car too often, mainly on weekend, it has 3400 miles on it since March of last year.
I am making a long drive in beginning of March so I figured I best take it in and have it done, so I had an appointment today and was refused service due to the car being lowered 3/4 inch, and having aftermarket side skirts which have all access to jacking points just like the factory ones, but main reason was the 3/4 inch drop because they said thier ramps could not accept the car which I believe is bs cause my car has been to several shops to have work done without issue, I'm sure they don't want to damage the skirts, the service guy at dealer was an a-hole about it as well, he said if you want your car serviced return it to stock, guy really pissed me off so I did a nice burn out on his nice clean cement floor as I drove out, don't plan on going there again so no big deal. The dealer by the way is located in Duarte Ca Advantage ford for anyone with lowered cars beware.
I called Star ford and they said they might make an exception but chances are slim they told me, they need to see it.

So here are a few questions to the members here for advice
Has anyone had trouble with lowered cars and service, recall or otherwise ?
Has anyone made the repair themselves ? I asked to get parts for repair they said no, call ford. I'm sure we can buy thermal coverage parts other than fords crap.
Has anyone just ignored the recall ? I don't plan on using dealer for anything, the warranty is bs as far as I'm concerned, just did not want to pay for thier miscalculations on this recall.

Anyway let me know if anyone has had similar issues with these guys

A lot of dealerships wont work on a lowered car because it can get damages going up on their lifts they use. It involved driving up on ramps which can damage your front splitter, side skirts etc. due to the incline and car lowered.

And no need to be childish and do burnouts, that's just flat out immature.

WOW burnout soo cool . No they didn't deny doing recall they denied working on your car because of you lowing it. A lot of places do this because if they damage it they have to fix it. Lowed cars are a pain to get to get under them. Legally they cannot deny recall but they can refuse to work on your car do to mods that make there job harder.

Just like what I do at truck dealership freaking car haulers there low to the ground. There built this way from factory with very short tires and some are not just lowered afterwards. THERE FREAKING BLANK BLANK BLANK BLANK TOO WORK ON. Jack it up do simple things on normal truck you don't. Can't even pull them over the pit to change oil without risk of hitting 4" tall steel rail on the pit.

Ok so we got the scolding out of the way, and the lowered issue i partly understand although my car is only lowered 3/4 of an inch not flat on ground, and it's been lifted by three mechanics, not one issue, ford did not even take a stab at it and say hey it just won't work on our lift, they flat out looked at car and said no, the least they could do is try and if it did not work, then turn me away, the guy was flat out ah about it.
My only option at this point is to have someone else or myself do the repairs, so my next question is, has anyone done this repair themselves ? If you have how did you do it? I've seen pictures of people's cars scratched damaged by these guys, and the half ass tape jobs I've seen with this recall.

I wouldn't be surprised if the dealer has an internal policy regarding lowered cars. They've probably had incidents before that cost them a lot of money, and they don't want to take the risk. That's probably the reason that they "flat out looked at the car and said no".

No reason to be immature about it and do burn outs; you may have just burned your bridges at other dealers as well. They often talk to each other and they will warn dealers in the surrounding area if they have a customer that is difficult to work with or makes a scene.

Call other Ford dealers in your area and tell them your car is only 3/4" lower than stock and verify if they can at least try to get it on their lift. This is a safety recall, so the dealer has to do it somehow.

Seems like a weak excuse to turn away a car because it's only 3/4" lower than stock.

You forgot about aftermarket side skirts that owner put on. It's not just "only" 3/4 lower than stock

^^^ If the side skirts don't work for any shop, then he can remove them to get the recall done, then reinstall them. He should at least try a few other dealers to see what they say.

Talked to guys at Galpin ford, they do a lot of custom work, talked to service manager told him about guys at other dealer, and he said no problem bring it in and we can work on it, they handled it very professionally and feel good about going in, he said that one way or another it will be taken care of due to nature of recall, so we will see how it goes.
