The plastic bumpers and isopod looks terrible now but it shaped the car scene in Northern Ireland and across the whole uk.

Maybe I'm just rose tinted about it!!

Maybe a bit of rose-tint on your specs there. ;)

That Renault 5 Turbo is beautiful, though - probably because it doesn't look anything like a Max Power car. Its just clean.

Definitely is the rose tint!!

But the best way I can describe it is if you look at the work that went into fitting, cutting and smoothing in a body kit and fitting stupid wheels into the arches and retrimming the interior in pure white in the 90s

Compared to bolting on bbs wheels, fitting air ride, and slapping a 'built not bought' sticker into it....

A lot more work went into the 90s scene and Part of me would like to see some of it come back!!

No they're all hideous chav wagons, i'm so glad i was in the ages of 0-6 during this period and now have to deal with style-lacking and class-lacking chavs who think this is 'cool' :barf::barf::barf::barf:

Or alternatively you could look at them and say 'that's someone's pride and joy. They've spent time and money to get it how they want it.'

It's not your taste but they enjoy it. That's what the modified car scene is missing now in my opinion. I don't like dubs but I can still appreciate the 'work' that goes into them.

Don't get me wrong, i'm all for making your car one of a kind, and what you want it like, I just think there's tasteful ways of doing it, and then there's some that just look silly, but, it could be down to me totally missing that whole 'scene' due to being a kid/toddler at the time so I didn't live through it.

Much like the fashion sense of the time (baggy jeans, denim everywhere etc), car mods like that do (fortunatley) got out of fashion

Hahaha, i just have the vivid images of the Justin Timberlake and Britney spears in flares jeans and matching denim jackets with JT having ramen noodle looking hair.:lol:.

Okay back on topic, spoke to Karen today, she's said that hopefully my car should be on the next vessel out of Baltimore and she'll be in contact with her contact at the port to confirm this, once confirmed she'll then email me to confirm the Ship it's on!

:hail::thumbsup:.

This pulls off, we're syndicating around the forums a gofund me to get her/stacey something from all of us for their help (Hopefully they don't read this post :headbonk:)

I can appreciate the work that goes into making something fit properly. That I don't disagree on. I just really can't get past that obnoxious styling and the fact that, 9 times out of 10, there was no purpose to anything and it actually made the car slower. Its that I have a problem with more than anything.

You watch your mouth on that Renault! :D

Mid engined, turbo charged, silly lightweight and cool looking direct from the factory. What's not to love?

The 5 turbo is as far removed from a Chav wagon as you could possibly get.

Same with its competitor the Peugeot 205 GTi Turbo.

If I was to have a car from the 1980s, it'd be one of those, a Sierra, Audi B2 Quattro or IROC-Z.

I imagine car wrapping will go out of fashion eventually. That's not a pop at you; can't wait to see what your car looks like, just what's in vogue now rarely stays there for long. The advantage I guess is that it's removable.

I'm with Zerocool on the denim though. Affordable and hard-wearing ;)
