Just finished cleaning up my 2005 Mustang GT so I could I sell it. :( It has been a great car but I just can't afford to keep it now that I have my 2016 GT/CS. Was taking some pictures of it this morning so I could advertise it online and decided to take some pictures of it next to my new 2016. Thought everyone would enjoy seeing the pictures. If you know anyone interested in a 2005 GT, it is advertised on this forum at the link below:

Beautiful cars indeed. Too bad you have to sell the '05.

It's funny, back in 2007 when I was making good money, I wanted an '06 or an '07 GT in the worst way. I really liked the Mustang back then - I still have the brochures somewhere. Problem was, almost parallel to my '16 , was that no dealer wanted to order a Legend Lime GT manual with a cloth interior. They all told me the same thing: if you don't buy it, we're stuck with it. Poor selling colour, apparently. (With my '16, I had to hunt for a dealer with a GT base in Blue. Nobody had one and only two dealers offered to order me one. The rest all said "pick off our lot".)

Thing is, I liked the previous generation. Wasn't over the moon over it, but the price was fair and you got decent car for the money. Good value, I'd say.

But when they announced the '15s..... Sploosh. Over the moon this time. The last time I fell this hard was for my little Tiburon so I knew I had to get one.

But now that I look back at the old '06/'07, wow.... (and no offense meant at all) but boy do they pale in comparison - even just in the looks department - to the new one.

I don't regret waiting a whole decade, now. Funny thing is, the last generations were feared on the streets as they were known to be pretty hot out of the box and infinitely tuneable.
People look at mine and have no idea what it is or have any clue as to what it's capable of. Even I don't as I really haven't pushed her all that hard yet.

Congrats OP. I made the same swap. Went from a 2007 GT to my '16. I enjoyed the '07 but the '16 is on a different level

I am just the opposite,I like the S197 series way more than the S550,I think the old ones look more Mustang. Just my $02.

Are there really dealers that do that? It's not a limited edition car; they have to know if you're set on a specific set of options, they can either order one for you or you'll go somewhere else.

On a related note, what is with the seeming lack of DIB cars? When I was shopping, my dealer searched for a base GT PP in DIB all the way out to Nebraska before we decided it's easier to order one. With turnover of 10,000+ per month, you'd think there's at least a few more in existence.

I say keep them both. Can't go wrong. I just countn't justify 3 at once. I need a bigger garage!

A dealer might not order a car they believe would be hard to sell if they think the buyer might change their mind or are borderline financially. Likewise if they believe the buyer will fold and buy something else off the lot (a bird in hand); that is more likely if the salesperson is planning on leaving the job. Dealers are human; they make mistakes. I ended up ordering my last car out of town because the local Cadillac dealers wouldn't "deal" on a special order. It was obvious that one thought I would take a car they had and the salesman I drew at another didn't think I looked like a Cadillac buyer which I wouldn't ordinarily be BUT they were (and still are) the only game in town for an Alpha (not AlphaPlus which should rightfully be called AlphaMinus).

I don't think so. They're different. All special. The older ones with the large headlights look more classic. I remember when I had my F-150 V6 and in the showroom in 2005 they had a silver V6 with cloth, I loved it... Now I have a 2016 V6 with black cloth, 11 years later! Yeah I had 2 cars at once before, too much money. I have 2 cars now, one is the family car, a CR-V, and I can't do three. Trying to get my motorcycle running, and that will be #3!

A buddy at work has a black I think 03 or so GT and I love it the same way I do when I see a '16 GT. Very clean and well cared for. And it SOUNDS (to me) better than a new GT. Awesome car and I tell him so. He thinks I'm blowing smoke up his ...., but I'm not.
