Actually, you can compare them, you just would have to have our tuner as well.

We just know that when we do these calibrations, we map out everything there is to map out, and even add logic into the ECM to change much of the functionality to better fit our established thought process on how these should perform, and drive.

Because of this, we don't use anyone else's software as there are far too many gaps, and flaws that we have dealt with in the past that inhibited the quality possible. And as touched on further up, if the logging is being converted, that means the tuning software is being converted as well, so you are putting in the wrong values and letting software convert when you input for changes, rather than understanding, and retaining the exact information you want to be in there
Early next year i'm getting some full-race upgrades. If I wanted a protune from you, how would you make me a map? And could I flash it from the accessport?

You would need our device, as mentioned above.

Actually, on an EB it's not nearly so simple. But we see peoples cars all the time that are tuned that way, and then the computer tries to fight it and they wonder why they are slower than a car with less boost.

This is what separates us from so many others, actually knowing how to do anything in the computer on an EB, and understanding how, when, and why to do certain things while others just treat it like old school cars and throw boost, fuel, and timing at it and wonder why they don't perform correctly.

Oh I agree. I've seen the parameters on them and wouldn't tough it myself. I'll stop at the quarter horse in my 91 and leave this to yall lol.

My point was only to show the basics of power and torque. Many many people don't understand it.

My car is a summer daily driver, parked in the winter. Will a tune be OK with a daily driver, or are they mainly for drag cars or cars not driven a whole lot? Thanks fellas, Ive always had a V8 and never really needed a tune, so Im new to this whole tune stuff...THANKS!!!

Tunes are designed for daily driving. Drove my Livernois tuned SHO daily year round and ran high 12's at the track with just a tune. My Mustang will be driven daily and stored in the winter.

Exactly what was said above, just because our EcoBoost tunes outperform every other one doesn't mean they aren't safe, it just shows that we have that much greater of an understanding of the calibration than anyone else. Trust me, there are plenty of EcoBoosts out there that were tuned and make less power than our cars do, and are far less safe. This aren't the days of making 5-10 tweaks in a computer and being done, you have to change hundreds of parameters to make the extra power reliable. If you do the wrong things in a tune on these, even adding 10hp can be catastrophic.

Yeah, just never had a car tuned before, so just doing a little Q&A before I buy one. I'll probly get one come closer to spring when I pull the 'ol girl outa the garage!

That's what everyone should do and I didn't. :D

@Livernois
The "too many" HP (I know - there are never too many) you guys posted including the videos made me think "that's too much for a DD". And as you posted already. If you have that much power and torque - drivers need the skills to handle this. I do not believe that I have that. :D

Stage two sounds perfect then! Truthfully we always suggest starting out in the middle and then work up from there :-)

Our results using COBB OTS Mapping

Just got off the dyno with our R/D EB 2015. Here are the results using just Off The Shelf mapping with the COBB AP.

*Completely stock chassis

Within the next few days, we should have our own custom mapping prepared and ready to baseline again.

Wow your dyno must be poorly calibrated if its reading that low. The base run is SIGNIFICANTLY lower than anyone elses base run. May want to get that looked at since theres no point in a tool if it gives a significantly different reading than another tool designed for the same thing. Would be the equivalent of torque wrenches giving different readings based on a certain time of the month. Unless youre telling me the cars drivetrain is so inefficient it lost over 110hp from the crank to the wheels

EDIT:
Only reason I say is because COBB also uses a Mustang dyno and theirs doesn't read anywhere close to your numbers.

Hey caoscentral.

Unless its a DJ:

The dyno is really only comparative to itself. It isn't exactly comparable to a torque wrench in the sense of needing to be accurate and precise, other than as a gauge of where we started to were we are now.

We do also use a DynoJet for comparative numbers toward other companies, and product offerings when the time comes.

We are very used to our heart breaker. The calibration is correct on the system; this is just how it reads. Also the reason why our 800hp GTR's trap low 190s in the half mile :)

I agree. Lowest reading I've seen is from COBB and their wheel numbers are closer to 260-270, with torque baselining right around 300.
