1. Catted Vs Non-catted. I have been eyeing the Kooks. Realistically, what are the HP differences between the highflow catted headers and running straight pipes.2. I have a friend who is a tech at Ford and is saying 5.0s are coming in for the blocks distorting and issues with the crankshaft or something along those lines we spoke about it in passing at a party if you guys are aware of this let me know whats up. He is getting more and more with the fake cam (assuming he is referring to lund ghost cam) and other tunes and of course owners are eating cost of rebuild.

I really would like to grab some LTs and get it dyno tuned, but this kind of crap makes me skeptical. I have tuned and voided warranties and never had issues prior, and everything I have heard these motors should have no issue with a competent tuner..

run cats unless you are going to use nitrous or you are going to boost FI around a road course.

don't know about the coyote issues like that but if you have a tune, Ford is going to give you hell about engine warranty work and probably just deny your claim altogether so if you are worried about that, leave it alone.

I wouldnt say that I am worried really unless there is a REAL chance people are having issues. I dont beat the car up too much, and only drive it on weekends. And I have not personally met anyone who has blown one up. I just didnt know if word was trickling down about some issues... I would really like to squeeze out that last 30whp or so...

haven't heard about distorting blocks in the s550 or prior MY. For what it's worth.

I prefer catted for two reasons:

1. Smell
2. Inspection if a sniffer test is warranted
3. Visual inspection of cats if it comes to that.

Horsepower difference is negligible and also cats can tone down some of that raspiness in exhaust tone. Although, if you do plan on FI or anything of that nature, go catless. I plan on just bolt ons for quite some time and even then, it's a simple swap from catted lead pipes to O/R lead pipes. Most headers had these things built into them not far past the collectors which made it a pain to swap, plus they would also burn out fast this way. I'm glad the cats are further down some.

Cool. I will post numbers when I get it done =)
Take it to Tony at TunersInc to get it tuned, hes in Orange Park. You will be hard pressed to find a better Mustang tuner anywhere in our area.
