Hey i am trying to tune my car is a 2017 Base GT with a Roush Phase 1 kit.
I've got a smaller pulley, injectors, BAP ect. and a Custome tune

When i try to tune the car it gives me error code 110AD and says to update the SCT device.
Tried to update it on the device itself and on my laptop all says its up to date.

i called SCT and they said i will have to take it to the dealer to have them remove the Roush tune and put the stock tune in to first before i can tune it. Has anyone heard of this before??

Yup it’s because the Roush tune is encrypted. Hptuners can save the stock file but sct doesn’t have the ability .

They got around the part where you had to take it back to the dealer and have it flashed back to stock before being able to load a tune.

When you say "when you try to tune the car", who sent you the tune? My SCT came from VMP with a stock tune already loaded on it. I simply loaded the stock program (which deleted the Roush tune), then loaded the new custom tune from VMP.

You need to get a stock tune loaded on the SCT, upload it first, then upload your custom tune.

I too have a 2017 Base GT with a Roush Phase 1 kit and looking into a custom dyno tune by AED. I got a SCT X4, but after reading this, from my understanding, I have to make a trip to the dealership to get a stock tune reflashed? Will I be able to save that stock tune onto the SCT and if reflashed, will I be able to make the drive to get a dyno tune with a stock tune?

PBD can most likely get this resolved for you. So can VMP.

But... what if I want to AED as my tuner? I would assume if I contact PBD or VMP, they will probally want me to do a custom remote tune with them. AED is about 20 mins from me here lol.

I did contact Shaun and he said to get the strategy ID first and check with SCT to see if the tuning will work. I am pretty sure it will work on a 2017 model and once confirmed, he said to set an appointment with him via email.

From what I am reading and finding out, people with my setup have to go to Ford and reflash the stock tune on top of the Roush (deletes it), Shaun will provide some kind of startup tune, flash that in on top of the stock tune, then drive to him :shrug:

Now I am thinking of the future and seeing if this will affect smogging the car later in strict Cali

Feels like I should just stick with the Roush tune as it and don't have to deal with this hassel lol.

I got it resolved with PBD. just needed to plug in the SCT to my laptop and let it update again. It showed it was already up to date but somehow it worked!

Whaaaa, so you didn't need a stock tune to be flashed over the Roush tune before the custom tune? Or did PBD provided the stock tune and you just went with their remote tune?

I went with Lund and their nGauge to avoid this issue, but call PBD and they'll get you sorted out..

I prefer to go with AED and get a dyno tune rather than a remote session where I have to do data logging for a few days or weeks. However, I am considering the easy route and maybe call VMP or PBD and just the remote tune to avoid the dealership thing. Heard from another member on here said Ford charges over two bills for stock tune reflash.

I am currently waiting on AED to call back regarding the steps needed to do a dyno tune with them, but probally won't hear from them until tomorrow and I still need to contact SCT for confirmation that their tuner will work with my strategy/ecu ID thing.
