First of all, thanks for the reply.

But, I think maybe I didn't ask the third question very well. I'll try again...

The first time you use a device it saves the stock cal.. Then you can load any tune you want and can always go back to stock. I get that part.

Hypothetical situation:
I load my stock tune, go to the dealership for maintenance/repairs and they update the stock tune while the car is in the shop. Now the stock tune I have saved in my device no longer matches the updated tune that's now in the car.

What happens now? Does the device see this as a different vehicle? Or is there information stored in the ECM itself that is used to "marry" my device to my car, such as the VIN number or something else?
This happened to a buddy of mine's Challenger, he had it tuned, dealership reflashed it, and then his tuner didn't recognize it anymore. Ended up having to call diablosport and have them unlock the tuner, after paying them a fee of course.

This is all very useful information to have. Guess I'll buy an OBD port cover when I get my tuner. I just didn't want the dealership to have a dead giveaway that the car had been reflashed, but oh well.

Another question or two:

I've seen several different pictures of the nGauge mounted in the 2015-16 mustang center vent hole. Some seem to be more recessed into the hole than others. Is there more than one mount or revision, or is this DIY error or something?

Also, I've seen that flashing a PP cal. to a regular GT causes the oil pressure warning to activate. I feel that this could be remedied with a different oil sending unit, but I only see one oil pressure sender listed on the Ford parts website for the 5.0L. Could it be that the PP GT cars use the same sender as the PP 2.3T cars, and if so, I wonder if this would solve the PP cal. problem.

Data logging with the SCT was a pain in the ass! I finally gave up because I just didn't have the time to mess with it. So I just reloaded my old tune from the "other" tuner and the car when back to running great.
I find data logging with the X4 to be quite easy.

You can use the logging template that is included in the device. Create one yourself with the SCT software or use one provided by your tuner. If you create or have a template given to you just load it to the device plug in the X4, pick the template you are going to use and start the data logging. When you are done plug the device into your PC and you can down load the log to an Excel CSV file and/or view it with the software.

There may be other devices that are easier but I wouldn't purchase a new device for that.

Just so that I'm clear about data logging..... Does this enable the tuner (say Lund for example) to make adjustments specific to your car only, in order to get the maximum performance out of it? In other words, it makes a canned tune for all cars more custom for your car only?

correct, car specific, say if you want shifting harder or softer, rpm changes, etc...
