For me I like the cobb tuner. Seems to have more features. I'm waiting to see what Ford racing does then make a decision.

I was under the impression after talking on the phone with customer service at COBB and Livernois that the various software that "tunes" the car's ECU could be easily installed by the user without the need of incurring the expense or expertise of a third party. Was this misleading or untrue?

Some of the comments suggest that a third party "tuner" is necessary. A tuner is what I would call a mechanic who installs the modification that I might not be qualified or equipped to do. While I understand that there can be a custom tune, I said at the beginning that one should assume that the use would be daily driving and not racing so, just the regular. THat should eliminate needing a dyno to obtain a custom tune. What I'm looking for is a product, not a service. I thought it would be an easy modification and not a major production. MAybe it isn't. Maybe many of you are wrenches and gear heads, I'm not.

As to other snide comments, they remind me of what I used to get at the Corvette forum that dissuaded me from wanting to associate with Corvette people.
Dude COBB and Livernois both have very good tunes that will download to the device and you can upload to your car very easily by yourself. For COBB in particular, the tune that they give you initially will change the characteristics of the car and give you more power but it is just a tune that was designed to work on any car without looking at them on an individual basis. If you want to fully unlock the potential of your car based on your modifications then you will need a custom tune from a third party. For Livernois all you have to do is tell them what you have much like Bama and they will send you a tune for that.

Ppl are responding to you the way they are because you're asking questions that are really basic and don't really take any previous knowledge to understand. All you have to do is read the threads from any of the tuners or go to their websites to understand

Edit: Just to be clear, the Livernois tune is also a canned tune like COBBs but is more aggressive (probably just better) but they will tweak it for you if you have any mods and COBB will not. But COBB has a better device that shows more info

The biggest difference between us and most every other company that offer tuning is that we have developed all of our own tuning software and hardware. We do not believe in selling bells and whistles, we sell products that are reliable and powerful.

Meaning that we are not using any other company to create our mapping. It is all done in house, by our own calibrator.

As far as hardware goes the processor and motherboard are also exclusive to us. Nobody else even has access to the hardware that we use.

These differences manifest themselves in our results VS our competitors. Both our and our client's cars routinely out perform the field.

Hi, me again! :headbang: I have a legit question and I'm not trying to bust your balls, lol. Do you guys not use the Hypertech boxes anymore? I thought and was told that you did. Although that may have changed.

The reason that I ask is because I've had people ask me before what tuning device you guys use, and if it's different, I don't want to relay the wrong information. [emoji106] I have a friend that just purchased a SHO and was asking about tuning it. I sent him your way.

I went with Unleashed based on HP/TQ and Torrie's reputation for excellent customer service.

I think that in the next year or so you will see a lot of great tuning options including Mountune and stratified automotive both of which utilize the Cobb AP for their tuning!

Hi me again! It's...me again...? lol

We do use the basic Hypertech gray casing to house our motherboard and processor. It just makes more sense for us to buy a simple and super easy UI piece that serves every purpose that we need it to, rather than us make something.

Thank you for the recommendation Juben, I appreciate it!

10-4. Thanks for clarifying. What you say about the casing of the device makes sense and I would do the same was I in your position. There's no use in reinventing the wheel, lol.

No problem.

The wheel rolls just fine...why waste the time and money? A raise sounds much better to me lol!

Does "work on any car" mean work on any 2105 Mustang EcoBoost, or does it mean literally work on any car, a Fiesta or whatever?
When it says "tell them what you have" does that mean that you have a manual transmission and 3.31 axle or does it mean that you tell them what kind of car you have?

He means it works on any 2015 Mustang EcoBoost, regardless of mods. A custom ProTune by one of the Cobb authorized ProTuners will give better gains. If you have any mods, especially power mods, just let your favorite tuner know the details and they can maximize the tune for your current level of mods.
