^ Hardly.... There's plenty of people here that chose a higher priced loaded EB over a base GT.

I think people upbadge because the highest trim level of every car is the one most people talk about and gets reviewed the most. Compounded by the condescending attitude and comments owners of the higher trim levels generally toss about because they actually feel superior to the people with the lower level.
I remember at a trackday a BMW 325 owner telling me my Skyline was not a 'Real Skyline' because it wasn't a GTR, I told him he didn't have a real BMW because it wasn't an M3 and he promptly shut up.

Given some of the comments on this forum there is alot of elitism among the GT owners here too.

People upbadge because of that elitism, Lets face it if you could have any car you wanted for free under the condition you couldn't ever sell it, Would your choice be a Mustang GT? This Elitism is really "I can afford a slightly more expensive version of a cheap car than you can."
Spoken like a guy with an EB on order. You can put lambo doors and a prancing pony emblem on your car for all I care. But for the love of god quit whining about GT elitism! Grow a pair and just be happy with your purchase! I have an s197 V6 as my daily driver and never once worried about what a guy in a 5.0 or a lambo had to say because he doesn't make my payments.

Point was... I hardly think the thought of "elite" pricing is the reasoning behind these people slapping 5.0 and GT badges to 4 and 6 cyl cars. Turbo emblems to NA cars, etc.

There are more then a few examples here of people "downgrading" to base GTs from loaded EBs. It wasn't for a lack of prestige pricing.

Because it's trying to pass the car off as something that it hasn't earned the right to display the badging for.

Fake car badging is a lot like displaying an award that you did not earn in order to falsely impress others.

Norm
But then again they have the right to do what ever they want with the money they earned. Who said they are falsely trying to impress others? Maybe they like the way an emblem looks on their car? I wouldn't do it in a million years because i wouldn't waste my money, my time or ever try to impress another person by something i own or am driving.

People get their feathers ruffled by what others are doing with their own stuff. That's the problem with this world especially this country. People are so worried about others and need to mind their own business. JMO Maybe if people minded their own business then other people wouldn't want to impress or worry about what others thought about them. Ahh yes but that would be too simple now wouldn't it?

the huyandai Bentley? i saw an infiniti G35 with a bad Nissan GTR body kit the other day. GTR and skyline badges all over it. what a clown.
Right, but this Bentley Continental GT is like $200k - $280k, or more than 5 ~ 10 times the cost of a typical Hyundai sedan. Consider the care that this owner took in replacing the badges, and also having custom Hyundai badges made for his wheels (not shown in the pic). This is the extreme equivalent of a Mustang GT owner removing the 5.0 / GT badges and passing it off as an EcoBoost or V6.

Hmmm... I have legitimate 5.0 badges that I could live without. They kinda spoil an otherwise clean look.
At some point I'm replacing my 5.0 badges with custom badges, only prob will be how to deal with the holes exposed after removing the coveted 5.oh badges!

That's one method to try and keep people away from a nice car. Not quite the same as a GT to a v6 or eco, though.

I agree slapping a 5.0 badge a lower trim or turbo badge on a non turbo is stupid, But can you agree that someone who does this would buy the aforementioned model if they had the money?

There are more then a few examples here of people "downgrading" to base GTs from loaded EBs. It wasn't for a lack of prestige pricing.
Then they bought the wrong car, They felt the peer pressure of the "It's not a 'real' Mustang without a V8" group. Seriously around 2 k will have an ecoboost preforming at the same level as a GT but you still will never get the respect of the V8 purists. And that is important enough to some people to change into a gt.

If you prefer the feel of a big NA engine and the sound of a V8, I totally get that, but then WTF did you not buy the V8 in the first place?
