its napoleon complex
If that's even a real thing, then V8 buyers suffer just as much from it (trying to compensate for something.. LOL), if not more.

I kinda wish they would lock 50% of the threads on here, even I got bored trolling this stuff. Threads like this offer nothing constructive to the forum.
Lol sounds like somebody had to too much popcorn

I hardly think buying a 30 or 40 something thousand dollar car qualifies as "compensating for something". Add another zero, paint it red, and get back to me.

Yea let's not bring Napoleon complex into this. We're talking about cars that are really not very expensive guys. A lot of ppl can stretch the budget to get V8 if they really want to. Some ppl just make smart decisions and some ppl can really afford it. I know a lot of nerds and little guys with big engines

Meh, to me it also does not really make sense.

The way i think about it is: If i spent money on a car, and on THAT specific trim of said car, there must be a reason for it. It´s because,in my opinion, its the one that bests suits my wishes and needs. Why not be proud of what you buy? What´s the point of buying something you are so ashamed of; you have to make it seems like its something else?
I agree. It is silly/strange to put up a façade, yet many do it in all aspects of life. And nearly everyone who does is found out eventually. But it's really a reflection of themselves and has little to do with anyone else. Which is why I don't understand the hate. Why hate on someone who is struggling with themselves. It's not like doing this results in financial gain or is at the expense of someone else. Yet others take this really personally.

Reminds me of Seinfeld. There was an episode where George gets really pissed when he finds out someone with hair chooses to be bald. Or another episode where Jerry scratches off his jean size and writes in a smaller number.

I feel the same way about all the people who say they cant wait for the GT350 R spoiler to be available so they can put it on the GT they own.
Yup or the front fascia. That fascia is awesome, but I couldn't do that. In a year us GT guys will be treated this way by the Shelby owners lol. It's the circle of life:D

I don't agree. this is a different ball game. its not like they are badging it as a Shelby. just using a product that looks bad ass and is functional, that happens to be made for the new Shelby.
I for one will be looking forward to having a Shelby style front fascia on my car when they become available.

Rather than it being really and truly 'hate' or taken personally, I think it's closer to the scolding you might have got as a child for stepping outside established boundaries and conventions. Or in terms of other things in life, a little 'tough love' intended to coax someone into finding some security in the choice that they made.

I really think that the word 'hate' is getting so much use that it is losing its meaning.

I think people upbadge because the highest trim level of every car is the one most people talk about and gets reviewed the most. Compounded by the condescending attitude and comments owners of the higher trim levels generally toss about because they actually feel superior to the people with the lower level.
I remember at a trackday a BMW 325 owner telling me my Skyline was not a 'Real Skyline' because it wasn't a GTR, I told him he didn't have a real BMW because it wasn't an M3 and he promptly shut up.

Given some of the comments on this forum there is alot of elitism among the GT owners here too.

People upbadge because of that elitism, Lets face it if you could have any car you wanted for free under the condition you couldn't ever sell it, Would your choice be a Mustang GT? This Elitism is really "I can afford a slightly more expensive version of a cheap car than you can."

^ Hardly.... There's plenty of people here that chose a higher priced loaded EB over a base GT.
