Because it's trying to pass the car off as something that it hasn't earned the right to display the badging for.

Fake car badging is a lot like displaying an award that you did not earn in order to falsely impress others.

Isn't it more like spending what you've earned? ;)

In this week alone, I have seen something which I have never thought I would see a Mustang owner do. First incident is when a guy pulled up next to me in a V6 base convertible and started asking me questions about my rims and drop. I knew what kind of model he had, but I thought I humor myself and ask him. He tells me it's the "V8 version" and he wanted more "sound to come out of the back". As I drove behind him, he would gun it every time to make me assume it has the V8 growl...but based on the badging I already knew this guy was a troll.

Second incident...I pull up on a base EB and I turn over to say whats up to him. He doesn't flinch and just looks straight and as soon as the light turns green, he guns it. As he was pulling forward, I saw the "5.0" badge on the side panel

Whats wrong with these people!?

Didn't your mother tell you not to talk to strangers :D

Problem solved :ford:

I kinda wish they would lock 50% of the threads on here, even I got bored trolling this stuff. Threads like this offer nothing constructive to the forum.

Just adds to the believe that no one is really happy with a V6 or ecoboost. They wont admit it, but the all wish they had 5.0.

Lol. Mad.

Anyway, the 5.0 badges (and any other badges, let's be serious) look pretty damn ugly and out of place on cars these days. It's just that some people who pay the premium price feel entitled to having some kind of visual recognition of that sitting on their car. Because ya know, how can you be proud of something unless other people know about it? A la, the 5.0 badge.

Also, don't compare this to Stolen Valor. I don't think military veterans who have suffered and earned their recognition through the worst situations would liken mis-badged cars to posers who attempt to reap what rewards/benefits/recognition vets receive and mock/insult their culture at the same time.
Don't tell me what I can and compare something too:paddle:

What's with all the ecopussies getting upset about this?
bunch of sensitive people getting butt hurt because somebody says "should have had a V8"
if an ecoboost owner tells me I should have bought the eco ill say "nah."
if I tell an eco owner they shoulda bought a V8 they will say "omg you're such a hater. akganoweghoieoinewgoewi"

I never said anything about you being wrong with your decision to buy the car you wanted. and no, im not "flexing" or bragging about having a bigger engine. just curious as to why ecoboost owners take offense to every joke made? I bet its like this on the Honda forums.

edit - guy I replied to deleted his response.

Meh, to me it also does not really make sense.

The way i think about it is: If i spent money on a car, and on THAT specific trim of said car, there must be a reason for it. It´s because,in my opinion, its the one that bests suits my wishes and needs. Why not be proud of what you buy? What´s the point of buying something you are so ashamed of; you have to make it seems like its something else?
