No need to fight, I'm sure it was a figure of speech. It's just sad when people put fake or wrong badges on their cars. Yes it's their car but when you drive the same make and similar model, its hard not to get upset. :ford:
Seems to me this is where some of the hate for v6 and eco stems (with some); thinking it's shameful to wrap those engines in the same body that covers the v8.

If you put 5.0 badges on your ecoboost you deserve to slapped upside the head. That's a bunch of bullshit.
Lol. Mad.

Anyway, the 5.0 badges (and any other badges, let's be serious) look pretty damn ugly and out of place on cars these days. It's just that some people who pay the premium price feel entitled to having some kind of visual recognition of that sitting on their car. Because ya know, how can you be proud of something unless other people know about it? A la, the 5.0 badge.

Also, don't compare this to Stolen Valor. I don't think military veterans who have suffered and earned their recognition through the worst situations would liken mis-badged cars to posers who attempt to reap what rewards/benefits/recognition vets receive and mock/insult their culture at the same time.

Several of the S550 development mules wore S197 sheetmetal, adorned with decals from various other manufacturers. One I saw had a giant screaming chicken on the hood. Another had BMW "M" badging and tricolor stripes. Trolls or engineers with a sense of humor? :D

most 5.0 owners dont need badges for their rides to be recognized as "the v8 version". unless you're deaf.

Or...you know...we like the 5.0 badge. That's also an option without being a pretentious dick.

I think you nailed it. There are a few minor visible differences between the V8, V6, and EcoBoost. They all look really cool, but 1 is clearly more powerful.

I think the fact that people are taking away some of those minor visual differences (i.e. adding the 5.0 badges), makes their cars that much more similar to the V8 guys cars, and that's where they lose it.

At the end of the day, the guys who really have the V8 have the most powerful car, no question about it. YOU know you have the bigger engine, what's it matter if Joe Schmoe at the gas station thinks someone else does too, based on the badges they see?

True enough, but are those the same people who get up in flames because they might see it misrepresented on a lower trim level? I doubt it.

Both of you are correct. Reminds me of back in the day when some people proudly wore their "Guess" jeans. Some did it to flash their wallet, others wore them simply because they liked them. What was ugly, however, was when those who wore them made others who wore a different brand feel bad - to the point where some would rip off the tag so it wasn't obvious what they wore. Even some of the "Guess" folks ripped off theirs because they didn't want to be associated with some of the people who wore them with hate.

I'd never downgrade my Eco with a 5.0 badge that's:crazy:
This, if they hadn't made the Ecoboost, I wouldn't have bought one.

Then Android wasn't for you. As a technophile, iPhones are terrible, terrible phones. I had every one of them from the original to the 4S. No way in hell could I go back to those phones.
