Hello, guys. I think I have a problem with my transmission. Maybe you guys can help me. My car is a 2015 Mustang GT PP, manual 6spd. The problem is when the clutch is out, the trans makes a noise like the gears are still spinning. After pressing and holding the clutch, the noise goes away. My car currently has about 4,500 miles on it. Mostly highway miles (about 160 miles trip to work daily).
Maybe the noise has always been there, just never noticed it. I have taken it to the dealership and they say the noise is normal. Could you guys confirm if what I was told is true or not. Thanks so much for your help.

Hey Tki2011,

I'm here to help! Please send a PM with your name, best contact number, VIN, and preferred dealer. In order to diagnosis the concern, the dealer does need to be able to recreate it. If you prefer, you can seek a second opinion at another dealer. Locate one near you here.

With any manual trans, you are going to hear something. Now is it a loud and screaming noise/ Or "You can just hear something" turning down there? What you are hearing is the input shaft spinning with the clutch pedal out.
I've got to say, this is probably the quietest manual trans (rear wheel drive) car I have ever heard. Or should I say, not heard.
You should hear the Astro A-5 in my son's '95 GT. Lets just say, crank up the stereo!

Thanks so much for your replies. It sounds like something is turning in the transmission when the clutch is out. The closest I can compare the noise to is a light chirp. You're probably right about it being a standard transmission noise though. I guess I'll do what the dealership said and drive it more.
