Touch up paint tips?

I have a few scratches to fill, mostly small, including a new one from tonight. I was driving down the highway when a car kicked something up, It hit my side fender right above by tire before I even knew what was going on. Whatever the object was it left a few scratches which should polish out, and a few which will need touch up paint. Has anyone used the Ford Paint Pens? Are they easy to use without messing up?

Only thing I do with mine anymore is fill the scratch or chip. I don't color sand, polish, blend or clearcoat. I've never had success with any of that. Dab in paint carefully, let it dry and get on with life.

Dr. Colorchip is better than the OE Ford Paint Pens, especially for road rash. Much easier to use. If you do go with the Ford Paint, though, get the Langka blob eliminator stuff. Allows for a much smoother repair.

It will NEVER look 100% right though. At best... it gets you a 5 foot repair, where from 5 feet away you don't see it.

And like the other guy in this thread, I never had any success with clearcoating or any of that. It just doesn't work. But if you use the blob eliminator or dr. colorchip, and hit it with some polish, it looks a little better IMHO. Smooth surface, at least.

Thanks everyone. I'll try Dr. Colorchip. Hopefully when I use some compound and polish today it all comes out, but one or two of the scratches seem pretty deep, and at least one or two that came from the dealer seem really deep as well and will definitely need paint. It's a black car so anything will be better than seeing the white primer or whatever is under the paint on the 3 or 4 deep scratches.

5 ft away is still better than the Ford 10 ft panel fitment standard.

I use Dr. Colorchip...it's good enough, not as perfect as the commercials make you believe. It doesn't seem to adhere well to plastic parts, like the bumper cover specially the corners. I can't make it to look 100% flat, even with the squeegee.

Not bad stuff, can't be seen more than yard away.

+1 for touch up paint and langka

I think langka is just lacquer thinner and a polishing compound though so if you have that around you could just make it
