I just received a TomTop as a gift last week and just wanted to ask everyones input and advice without having to read ALL 44 pages of this thread....

1) Should I even bother installing this unit ?
2) If installed, do I need to update anything right away ?
3) What "bugs" are still present and is there anything that is being rectified.
4) OPEN to any and all suggestions from fellow owners on what I am in for.

1: Probably worth a shot.
2: They probably shipped you an out-dated firmware. You can go on the website that's in my signature to update it. (It fixes the Temp back to F and the Chinese Play/Pause buttons, and some Chinese stuff back to English)
3: On some HU it'll crash with a Chinese Message because there's not a lot of NAND/RAM space. (Hardware related)
4. It can't show properly the date when you push the Volume knob to turn off the radio. The brightness can't be saved only if the headlight knob is on the "OFF" position. You'll probably have to find the wire on the HU harness and cut it off to be able to save your desire brightness. There's no WiFi at all. I managed to build a dongle with a specific chip. It works but the OS won't save my driver after a reboot. You can update the GPS (same it's on the website http://stangatx.tk/ )

Morning Fella's Quick Question Any Time Frame When The New Fix For Adding Back The Play Pause Button Back to English after Doing The One Connect it went back to Chinese Need The New Xml file

For $250 it is definitely worth it.

Is the On Connected fixed the upper left hand side when bluetooth is connect? Is the chinese play character fixed as well?

I honestly don't know. I installed the unit, made sure it worked, then immediately installed StangATX's updates, and map.

But yes everything is in English. And it does tell me my phone is connected.

Just out of curiosity, it looks like this update will revert the "Connected" back to "one Connected"

Has there been an update to ensure this doesn't happen? Thanks in advance!

For what it's worth, I did the new update which does not have the "one Connected" corrected, then followed it up with the "Connected" modification in hope that we could have the new update alongside the old one, unfortunately we cannot lol.

So we definitely need an expert to update the lang file on the most recent update in order to have both the "connected" correction as well as the Chinese "pause/play" correction. It was worth a shot! lol
