Small Summer vs Larger A/S Tires

Throwing this out there and without a discussion on the differences or benefits of either tire type because they are obviously apparent, my question is about potential tire traction benefits between a SMALLER width Summer tire vs LARGER width A/S tire, without consideration of seasonal use.
Lateral and rear traction.

Senerio comparision is using a square set-up of the following:

"A LARGER" A/S UHP 285/35-19 tire- (Conti DWS06 or BFGoodrich*G-Force COMP-2 A/S) likely on 19x9.5 wheels.

VS.

"A SMALLER" Max Summer 255/40-19 tire- (Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position or Michelin PSS) on 19x8.5 wheels?

Difference between summer and A/S tires are the componud and its reaction to temperature. A softer compound is going to make the contact surface larger and provide more grip. There are 2 changing factors in your comparison so I kinda don't know how to start.

Right, l guess there is some math involved when you take into consideration the compound softness and contact area of each tire. Just an off the top of your head thought on which tire between the two noted above would provide better traction, the smaller grippy(er) summer tire or the wider (larger contact patch) of the less grippy A/S tire? Both have the same diameter within .10"

Ive gone the smaller summer tire route. while it was a great improvement over the smaller A/S tires I think a wider A/S would result in the same if not better traction. The wider A/S tires would require wider rims and give you future potential.

Given a range from 0 degree to 30 degree, the summer tire shall be better in the range from 20-30 degree while the a/s shall be better under 10. They shall be similar when the temperature is between 10-20. Just a rough example

Yep, l would perfer a 10" wide for the 285-19 A/S tires but will end up going with the 9.5" Vertini RF1.2 brushed Titanium rotary forged wheels as it's not offered in a 10" wide.
Also load rating and stability are better with the 285's vs the 255's.
