I had a shift knob on my 997.1 911 that would not come off, so I hacksawed it off. At some point you realize it’s going to get mangled regardless so you cut it off with glee. Same thing with a counter shaft sprocket nut on a ZX9 I had. Oh, and a screw on oil filter on my first new car first oil change, a 1986 Celica GTS. Yup, got so mangled in the end I used a chisel to loosen it up after tearing most of it off.

I broke a strap wrench trying to get mine to come off. Had to resort to a pipe wrench - tried wrapping the knob to protect it, but that didnt' work, still tore up the leather getting it out.

Haha I feel ya. I wrapped a leather belt around it at first and tried to use a wrench and couldn’t get it to budge so after my 4 days of thinking i saw the c-clamp and figured I’d give it a try and whamo
