The only new car I ever made money on and I've had a lot of cars was the Ford GT. Bought it for I think 165k kept it a year and only put 900 miles on it. I sold it for 195k and thought in had hit the jackpot . Now they are selling for 250-350 at auction. I mean when I have bought them new. This car is no Ford GT and I paid MSRP for the GT 350 and I suspect if I sell it in 2 years. It will have no more than 3k miles as I have a lot of cars to drive I will still lose money.

The prices for the 2016s are dropping faster than a hooker's skirt now that the 2017s are arriving at showrooms everywhere. Patience is a virtue, that's for sure.

I hope so. I spent some time calling for 2017s at California dealers today, Socal dealers seem to be at $20k ADM, some of the obscure areas were around $10k, none would take an offer at $5k. Sure seems like inventory is bulging with Gt350's, especially 2016's.

Yeah Im not sure if they will get that price or something else is at play. My local dealer had 3 at 20K+ ADM one was used. I checked and they sat on all 3 for 3 to 4 months. Today they are all gone which seems odd. Seems unlikely they sat on them that long and found 3 buyers with in the week since I checked last.

The biggest issue with these huge ADMs now is that the dealer most likely purchased the car for sticker or 5k ADM themselves from another dealer. I first hand heard this a number of times. Unfortunately those kinds of cars will never sell and cause the prices to stay high in an artificial manner.

I was called by a dealer yesterday that had a car configured the way I would have ordered it, apparently ordered for inventory. At the time they wanted too high an ADM so I said, I would pass and have ordered one through another dealer. Yesterday, the car from the first dealer came in and they asked if I was still interested. When asked how much they wanted for it, they still said $20K ADM. I told them I was not interested.

Yeah North East dealers are smoking something. My local dealer has a White 2017 when I ask for a price I get no response

Yup, though this one was in MD, which I guess is close enough to the north east. I will say that the smaller dealers are almost universally better to deal with on this point.

+1

Hansel Ford in Santa Rosa is a crazy, high volume store that got $25k ADM on a non-R around March, then wanted $60-80K ADM on an R.

In April, having practically resigned myself to the fact that I'm never going to be able to buy one of these cars, I happened into a small-town dealer an hour away who surprised me with not only having a 2017 R allocation, but THEN sold it to me MSRP.

Look for the small dealers for the best deal.

I reached out to Hansel a couple of weeks before that R hit their lot. Once they told me "Umm, $40K ADM, when would you like to come buy it?" I LOL'D and hung up.

Last I saw the car was a month or so ago, when they trailered it and a non-R to the Santa Rosa Airport for a car show. The rep there told me that the nut on it was $137k. And their internet price was supposedly $80k ADM.

The rolling of their eyes and look on their face when I said Hansel's owner was out of his mind was, "Ya, we know."

Lakeland Ford in Lakeland FL has a 2016 tech pack AG with Black OTT for a mere 20K ADM. I politely told the sales guy his GM was nuts lol .
