I noticed that there are a few 1.5 inch pieces of tape on the body of the car around the top of each taillight. Do you guys have this too or is this something they neglected to remove at the assembly plant? Thanks.

I had the same thing. I used tiny needle nose pliers to remove it.

How did you remove residue from tape? Remove taillight assembly?

Okay. Perhaps I am a bit OCD. I ended up removing both of the tail lamps, removing the tape and cleaning the residue. FYI Ford did not make the taillights easy to remove. There are 3 screws holding each in place and one is difficult to reach/loosen.

I asked Ford about this and they said it is friction tape and was left there on purpose because the fitment of the tail lights is so tight that it would rub the paint off otherwise. I had them trim off the excess so it was not visible but still enough for protection.

That's interesting. There is nearly 1/6 inch all the way around each taillight unit and they are bolted into place. How would the lights scratch the paint?

No idea, just passing on what was told to me when I asked my service guy and then he asked Ford.
