On the Equipment list it says sync 3 - I thought we were getting sync 2 here?

That's because the window sticker in question is a generic copy of a US MY2016 car, which also shows other standard equipment we are not getting. This is covered by the black bold disclaimer. We are getting SYNC 2 here

I have read that Sync 3 cannot be used in Europe at the moment due to the different way our data signals work or some such.

SYNC 3 is a completely new package and is not just a software upgrade for SYNC 2. SYNC 2 is run by microsoft software where as SYNC 3 is run by blackberry software.

Sync 2 works great in my Mondeo and I'll be happy with the same in the Mustang. BTW it doesn't tell you which version you have in the car or take the pi$$ while you are driving the car. I prefer it to the current Audi and Mercedes systems. Best get over it.
