To those who said it can't be done, it has. I installed a parrot asteroid tablet, basically it looks like a small navigation unit but it has a small hide away unit that has a built in amp, several usb inputs, line outputs, steering wheel inputs, and line input. It has android os albeit with their skin and a limited market. It handles calls hand free, has Bluetooth and can go online using your phones wifi hot spot or a 4g dongle. The audio output has a spacializer and equalizer. It also has an input for a back up camera.
I have just installed it, along with a set of pioneer component speakers in the front and a set of midbass drivers in the back. The sound is amazing. Nice punchy bass and crisp highs. I took a bunch of pics and will update this thread later this week. I have yet to tackle the steering wheel controls so for now I'm using the add on swc that comes with the unit.
As of right now the only thing the factory head unit and it's cursed sync is doing is displaying the backup camera.
I'm also working on a template to mount my iPad air in front of the base radio to satisfy my large screen lust.
