Sync 1 to 3 Harness Help!!

is the APIM not attached to it in the picture ?

To me that looks like the back of the screen? There should be 3 pieces total, bezel, screens and apim. I'm not entirely sure if the original spin will work with the newer screens and stuff. It might but I'm not sure. The apim is the box below the screen in this image. (Idk why but I can't get any images to attach in this forum or anywhere)

Hey guys, I have a base 2018 ecoboost and while upgrading I noticed my black usb cable that connect the APIM to the hub needs the adapter and that's not big deal, but the back of the APIM has only the slot for the black usb cable and not the grey one (which from my understanding is the one from the usb port below the start button), why this?
Where the grey cable need to get connected to and do I need the HU5Z-19A387-A Media Hub even if i have the donor car usb hub? (the one which goes under the armrest)

If I'm following correctly, you can use the donor USB hub as long as it's the correct version which has two USB slots and a harness slot to power the hub. You'll need two new USB cables, one will run from the APIM to the hub and the other will run from the hub to the bezel.

This is the USB I got from the donor mustang but it has only one USB port on the front and the sigarette lighter. Still good to go?

I tried again today with two USB cables I got from my local Ford dealership but the screen only shyly lights up (didn't get a photo), bezel and ignition button works fine. So am I doing something wrong or is the screen simply broken?
I also miss the power cable to the USB hub, where the hell am I going to get it lol?

And is this cable a power cable which is not going to be reused?

You'll need a conversion harness for both of those. The conversion harness will have a 3-4 foot pigtail that you'll need to run to the hub. The other plug appears to be the Sync 1 APIM plug, which plugs into the conversion harness and then another plug on the harness will go into your 8" screen's APIM

Just some general advice. I would search for Sync 3 upgrade on Youtube and see if you can find one of the 20-30 minutes videos showing the swap in detail. It'll really help to familiarize you with the parts. I'd also search threads here, there are several that show detailed pictures and list all of the Forscan changes they've made.

I have this harness I didn't use because I tought it was just for not OEM 8" screens, but it has a yellow jack for the backup camera which it will not fit the famale port on the sync 3. Do I need a more serious harness?

You need something like this for your camera. I don't know why they don't build this into the harness. I assume it's because those conversion harnesses are universal and work for multiple vehicles.

Ended up buying the Hellhorse Performance Harness and now the screen works but not the two USBs, I think it's because I ordered from my local Ford Dealer two USB cables which are supposed to replace the existing ones (at least they said that):

Instead I should have got FR3Z-14D202-A and FR3Z-14D202-B, do you guys think that's the problem?
