I wouldn't choose used shocks/struts except as a short-term interim solution. There isn't much guarantee they'd be enough better than what you'd be taking off.

PP are marginal for stock spring rates. If you can afford it, go with the Konis or Steeda Adjustables. They'll give you the most options, if you're even a little bit interested in playing with the settings. They're both pretty similar (come from the same factory, with slightly different tunings). The Konis are perhaps slightly sportier with higher compression, but Steeda are fine for most people if you like your kool-aid in blue.

If you can't convince yourself you need adjustable shocks, someone will be along shortly to explain why their brand of fixed shock is better.
