...for the Monaro. Time for her MOT and Service and so out of storage she comes, and the Mustang takes her place.

Obviously I haven't gotten rid. I mean. Come on! :p

It IS an interesting experience driving them back to back. The Mustang is longer and feels it, but it's also far more compliant and comfortable. The Monaro has a proper engine, but there's very little between the two - the cat-back (Wortec) is quieter than the 'stang's Roush, which is somewhat surprising, but the Monaro's suspension feels tired (it always felt wooly), so when I come to recomission her, I think she'll be getting something new underneath.

Otherwise, they are remarkably similar despite the 20-odd years of development between them.

I saw clarkson on Dave yesterday test driving one of these and he loved it. How does it compare in the straight line performance category?

I've probably posted this before, but it was a Monaro that I wanted prior to buying my S197.

And if I had one it would look JUST like yours :headbang:

I'd seriously consider one as a daily driver, but I do like the luxury/laziness of an auto, and the Monaro was, of course, manual only. The VXR8 is appealing, but I much prefer the looks of the Monaro. They still offer fantastic value for money though :)

Slower off the line; largely due to tiny tyres (245s) but in gear it's largely the same. Mine is 440hp and the same torque value so it's a bit gruntier.

Yes. Mine is unfortunately a garage queen with only 11,500 miles, so she doesn't get the use she deserves, but a CV8 is a bargain in comparison!
