Stock head unit filtering low frequencies

My question is.... I just installed a small powered sub in the trunk and it almost feels like it is not receiving the low frequency ranges. I have it tied into the rear speakers to pull its signal. Does the head unit not pass low levels to the rear speakers? [MENTION=20927]OEMRadio[/MENTION] ?

its called bass rolloff, you can tap in the front speakers either before or after the factory amplifier, if you tap into the front speakers before the amp, its a low level output and eliminates the need for a line output converter, however there is still processing
