Regarding coilovers I personally think waiting a while (maybe 3-6 months) until more brands hit the Australian market. Very tempting right now to take out the credit card and go shopping. PPPony brings up a valid point about compatibility with dampers and coils and this will depend on what sort of ride you are after and what your beast will be used for.

My concern is the rear camber adjustment. Like I have mentioned before the rca is very poorly designed and can easily go out of whack if you a hit curb/burnouts/rear wheel hop etc. That is why I am looking at what aftermarket products are available to allow for better rear camber adjustability and strength.

Rear camber bolts are not worth it and they are rubbish and will not hold. Steeda have rca with adjustment (at a cost of six hunge) and will soon release an upgrade to their current product. Looks like they have realised strength and reliability on it current version is prone to issues, but is a much more superior product than the pissy camber bolts. BMR are soon to release their version. It's a similar shape to the OEM rca in a wishbone style and looks like it will blow the Steeda away in strength but at cost over around six hunge

I would like to read other opinions on rear camber if you have any. I'm currently working on another option and hope to share this with you soon at a fraction of the cost of Steeda and BMR.

I'm all for an engineered solution.

I spoke to a few engineers about this and the dampers and coils need to be matched and work together.

I'll be also making sure my wheel selection goes "hand in glove" with the dampers and coils I put on my baby.
Totally agree with this.

As far as I have always understood suspension isnt just the one component upgrade but the entire setup matched together, including wheels. Wheel sizes will impact any setup.

Given that my car is arriving much earlier than anticipated, I was caught a little off guard in terms of "how to not be driving a Mustang on stilts"...
I was looking for a cheap, potentially short term solution to the problem.
After several emails and phone calls to Fred (Vogtland) I decided to grab some 35mm drop springs...
The rates are virtually identical to the Steeda ultralite linears, except that the Vogtland rears are progressive, so the car should squat a little better when I'm having a go.
Absolutely NO COMPLAINTS whatsoever as far as the service was concerned.
Fantastic response times from Fred and he's a future Mustang owner also.
In a little over a week, I should be able to make some sort of comment on the performance and pics also.
Cheers

Burkey,
I've got the Steeda Ultralights sitting in my office. (Linear obviously) I looked into springs and coilovers for about 3 weeks solid but decided to buy these following one of the Pommy build threads from a bloke who seemed to know what he was doing.
All the reviews have been great, I'm sure you'll love your Vogtland ones as well if the rates are similar. Knowing you are a "flat lander" the 35mm drop should work as well as it looks. I live in the Hills District, my driveway is like a ski jump. The Steeda at approx 30mm/25mm was the most I was willing to risk

These turned up at work today..
Vogtland 35mm all round drop.
In the interests of a little science, instead of taking the car diretly for lowering, I'm actually going to find a good twisty stretch of road and hurl the standard car at it for a baseline.
Hopefully I might be able to add something useful to the "springs only" debate.
For me, this is a temporary solution regardless of the outcome, cos I really do want the car to sit lower than 35mm...
The real benefit is that I can use these spring rates as a bit of a guide when selecting the coilovers, rather than just trusting the judgement of the company that makes them.
Results will come once the car arrives.
Apparently it takes Prix (pricks?) car about a fortnight to move a car 600km's :frusty:

Regarding quality firstly stick with a reputable brand. Our suspension installers have had nothing but grief after installing poor quality coilover kits for customers who have purchased Taiwanese or Chinese made kits. They blow shock seals out comfort level is poor etc etc. When you disassemble the shock they have absolutely no idea of engineering. They make them look pretty but no substance. Vogtland, KW, Eibach etc all fully develop their package with proper in house engineers. They then test them in the real world as all German company's do.
