Sorry if this has already been discuss but a search brought no results.

So can someone tell me about the chips that are supposed to increase fuel economy and horse power. are they worth the money, time and effort? Do they perform as advertised or are they marketing blasphemy?

Chips are no longer used to tune modern cars. You buy a handheld tuner(SCT, Diablo are the most popular) and have a tuning company write a specific tune for your vehicle, PCM stategy code, fuel octane, and your modifications. The benefits are increased power and torque, drivability/throttle response, and often increased fuel mileage. There are many threads on the top tuners out there. Some names are Lund, Steeda, VMP, MPT, Livernois, Rev Auto, JPC, too many more to list.

Thanks! I've actually been looking at the Steeda but I'm waiting for their CAI/tune testing to complete. There Dyno results were pretty good with out the CAI. I saw the chip for $69 and figured that had to be BS as a hand held costs $400.
