Stripe poll for magnetic GT

I didn't much care for most of the prepackaged stuff & have a local shop doing a custom one for me @ about the same price. Also, matte stripes can be a huge PITA to care for - they get soiled (tree sap, bird poop, water marks etc.) easy & are just as easy to ruin when you try to clean them + wax will make them look like arse.

Having mine done in 3M 1080 Satin Black (S12) - not too dull, not too shiny - but can be waxed/sealed which will make caring for them much more livable.

What is the name of the local shop you refer to? I would love to see some pics of your custom job. And thanks for the tip about the Matte Black stripes. I was leaning toward Matte Black on my Magnetic, but I may have to reconsider.

Check out that great purple color vinyl from Big Worm. If unique is what you seek, try the purple stripe on the Magnetic Mustang. You surely won't see another one around. Your other color considerations have been used and seen around for some time now. The Magnetic color is dark enough to balance out the boldness of the purple hued stripes. Ask Big Worm for a color sample swatch of their unique purple vinyl and lay it on your Magnetic Mustang hood...you'll see what I'm saying.

At first I had the Blue stripes on order. Then as I saw more pictures; I realized that magnetic can look very silver in bright light or very gray in overcast. So I changed my stripe option to black, because I felt that it will look better in any light.

It's a Tampa guy the dealer uses. I've seen his work on other cars they have in stock & it looks great, so just going with him. I'll post up pics when the car is done (sometime next month). BTW Oracal's matte black is very close the the 3M S12 satin. Make sure they show you samples of the actual product (there are many brands) they plan to use. There is no industry standard for what is considered matte vs. satin.

I was going to go Matte but am worried now if I get wax or polish on it it will look patchy. If I go gloss I can polish them with the car.

^This.^ It's good advice.

I would be very careful about your accent pinstripe color. Any bright color will draw the eye to it in such a way as to dominate all the rest of the car. Even though I get how orange is not a bad accent color against Magnetic.

So I say go with satin black stripes, with silver or metallic blue (DIB, or the Ford blue stripes on the GT350) pinstripes.

I can attest to BigWorm for the stripes kit. The computer cut is perfect, the taper makes sense, and you can put them on wet or dry. Whether it is you or a professional that installs them, it should go pretty well. I had a pro install mine, but I was willing to do it myself.

The stripes transformed the look of my car. Testimony: GF asks coworker if she saw a photo of BF's new Mustang. Yes, she did, she replied. GF then asked "But did you see it with the stripes?" (showing her the photo). "Oh my!" said the coworker, "That looks really good!". You get the idea...

Actually the care instructions for the Hexis brand stripe from BigWorm states that you should not claybar or wax or polish the stripes in any way. Apparently there is some factory coating that is needed to prevent the film from degrading over time.

And yeah, purple would be da bomb.

Any pics of glossy stripes with pinstripes on a magnetic? So far only seen matte. and the glossy one's i've seen on google had no pinstripes.
