When tuners build codes, they use strategy codes. If tuner "A" builds a tune and uses a specific strategy code, how can you later install tuner "B"s tune if they use a different strategy code ? If you return a car to stock with tuner "A"s tuning device, doesn't the car still maintain that tuners strategy code in the ECM/PCM? If I understand this correctly, once you install tuner "A"s tune, then you are almost married to that tuner and unable to install tuner "B"s tunes? If so, that kinda seems unnecessary. What are tuners protecting by doing this?
Thanks

The strategy code is from Ford. Overtime they change the way the ECM is programmed and a strategy code is assigned. Your tuner needs to know the code in order to create a tune that works with the strategy code in your ECM.

You don't have to worry about ECM codes or strategies when working with HPT or the nGauge. Simply pull the file and email it to your tuner or open it up yourself.

The strategy is more of an operating system, it's not something your tuner actually modifies. If we feel you would benefit from a strategy change the file flashed to car will contain the new strategy. When we flash, the Editor will actually erase the ECM and then flash the new file on the car, this is the as an erase and install of a operating system on a computer. Every flash is complete from ground up. The only time it won't do that is during updates when we can simply use the "write calibration" function instead of "write entire"

How do I pull the strategy code from my stock tune? Think this may be the problem why my cruise isn’t working.

Where do you find the Strategy Code?
I plugged the SCT Tuner in to give information to tuner for a custom tune and it shows my VIN# and no Strategy Code.I have a Whipple Tune in the car know.

Not 100%, but would that be the 3 or 4 digit code off you car’s ECU Label?
