always a stickler for tr
yea same, I want to get down to the bottom of this to understand for me and also my installer with the least amount of work. I didn't want to get in their way, but I could have stayed at the shop and just worked there and went in the back to take a look when he was doing the install to inspect the actual vinyl and go through the process. He offered to take it back off but I dont want him to eat that cost again. Maybe i could work something out with him where I pay for part of it or something for both of us, not sure. They were going to submit to XPEL for warranty, but just ate it themselves since it was just one piece. I'll see what XPEL comes back with to my inquiry.

I can ask the how he did it. I can also ask for my understanding how they preped the stripe after removing the old Stealth.

The installer did say to me today that the Matte Black Finish on ZL1 hoods has issues that only show up with Stealth PPF on them because of the slightly rougher finish and makes the adhisive have tiny air pockets. He suspects that its possible that area of the stripe is just a little bit rougher than the rest.

All this is hard to say. I'd love to pull it and dig into it myself for my understand and so we can all sleep at night! I think they may also like to understand but I dont want it to cost to much dollars and time for any of us....

Things like this pop up at times, and a-lot of times its not really an error or anybody’s part or poor workmanship. It’s that old saying, …. happens. The other thing is with some of this stuff its so rare that some guys will never deal with an issue during an install ever like this. That in itself makes it even more difficult to try and deduce. It sounds like your installer is professional and diligent. This isn’t toward Xpel(that’s what’s on all my cars) necessarily, but some times the support to actual shops is crap. Even with the thousands and thousands of dollars in material purchased.
