I just completed my OPG/CG install as part of my whipple on my '17. After reading quite a few stories regarding crank failures with the ATI damper/ARP bolt combo (not just on mustangs) i have elected to keep that on the shelf for now and stick with the stock damper and ford crank bolt, since i am just running the whipple tune and not raising the limiter.

Does anyone have the ford service manual for the stock crank pulley/bolt?

Specifically looking for:
- The pulley install details (assume silicone in the keyway - does ford call for anti-seize or oil on the bore?)
- Bolt dressing specification (loctite used? there was no remanence on the old bolt)
-Bolt torque spec (believe it is a 4 step process, torque-to-yield)

Thanks in advance.

Thank you sir!

Strange that the ARP bolt requires much more torque as well as loctite, and there are still reports of them backing out.

ARP bolt requires ARP lube I think, people just use loctite anyway.

The factory torque listed above is 74 ft-lbs PLUS another 90 degrees. That's a lot more torque than 74 ft-lbs, probably pretty close to the ARP bolt torque.

Any updates since your install? Is it fair to say the safest route is to stick with the stock damper and Ford crank bolt? That question is for everybody, btw.

All is good for me - about 3,000 boosted miles since the install. No track use but hit the limiter (7,500) a few times on the street (comes quick in first...).

I’m on the stock pulley and replaced the bolt and washer with a new stock ford replacement.

How are you torquing crank pulley bolt? Or just say fuck it and hit it with an impact?

My car is a manual so i just put it on the ground in 6th gear with the e-brake.

If you have an auto there is a flywheel tool you can buy that you bolt in place of the starter that locks it.

Do not hit with impact.
