Again, this is not 2016. A current gen coyote with a10 and E85 tuning trap in the low 120’s full weight. Add in minor bolt on’s and weight reduction it just goes faster. N/A 307 ci v8. This is the best value proposition (by far) out there... lol.

That's cool and all that but the OP was talking about a hypothetical race with a stock 2016 and not the value of a modified Gen 3 car.

To answer the OP's question. Yes, A 290whp BRZ would definitely keep up with a stock 2016 GT. You did lose me when you started talking about 400Zs retiring the Coyote though. The existence of one car does not negate another.

According to Google search a coyote engine is 445lbs without accessories. I couldn't find transmission weight. I would guess 400lbs.

Frs motor and trans weighs 480lbs. Stock frs is 2800 or so. Add another 400lbs. 3200 roughly with 400+hp all motor

No idea if there’s a packaging issue, but I’ve always thought BMW’s N52 would be a good match for the BRZ

The Supra 3.0 is "382" crank horsepower and can run in the 10's with bolt ons, but I don't notice my Coyote being retired yet? Nobody is going to care about the 400Z, just like nobody cared about the 370Z after like 2 model years.
Ford is going to do a 4th gen Coyote to probably try and keep up.

Noticing you said stock 2016..maybe not. But i still think the mustang would easily win.

2018+ 10r80 the brz wont stand a chance.
Used was the best I could do.
