If you're at a meet (and not in/around your car), and you're talking about what you drive, do you mention the transmission directly proceeding the year, make, model of what you have?

No.

But the vast majority of "meets" that I've ever gotten out to were for autocross, HPDE track days, or in years past TSD sports car rallying. Where most people already knew what transmission was in your car, or they could just go look for themselves.
