Steering wheel emblem?

So this was really low on my wants list, but since I'm replacing the steering wheel I thought I'd see if its possible to replace the airbag emblem as I'm not a huge fan of it. Does the OEM emblem come off? How? Is it safe to replace? Has anyone on this board done it? Can you please post your experience and maybe some photos?

Have you thought about just wrapping it. Could make it any color, even black so it doesn't stand out so much. I actually have a vinyl cutter and basically made a decal to cover mine.

The emblem is part of the airbag assembly and not replaceable. An expensive upgrade.
