Hey Guys,

Steve from MyElectronicMechanic. I've been working on some cool projects in the background, one specifically, that required me to redesign the pcbs that sit inside the steering wheels. I plan on eventually releasing them into the wild.

Just figured I'd share a preview to gauge interest.

What do they do?
What is your project?
So there's a couple different plans I have.

First and foremost, I plan to redesign the resistance ladders to make them plug and play for 05-09, 10-14 vehicles. My car is a 2013 that I swapped the steering wheel on ages ago. I replaced the resistors and changed the ladder ages ago, but the I think a cleaner implementation is in order.

In addition, there are some switches that don't have function depending on the usage, so I was thinking about perhaps repurposing some for HVAC functions.

Do you mean making a PCB for a S550 steering wheel to use the steering wheel on a 2013?

Correct, I have actually already done the work retrofitting the existing PCBs but frankly speaking, they're a lot of work. And I have been thinking for a while about potentially repurposing the buttons.

For instance, the nav button or the horse button on non-premium cars.

At the end of the day, having a pre-designer board at the millimeter level means others don't have to design their own.

In my car, I repurposed the paddle shifters to control the heated Steering wheel.

Another idea I have been thinking is getting exhaust cutouts for my car. This would let me repurpose the mustang horse button to open and close the cutouts.
