Hey y’all,

I used to run an H-pipe paired with them Roush axle-backs, but the drone drove me crazy, especially at cruising speeds around 90–100 kmh. I switched back to the factory resonator, which helped a lot, but I still miss having that aggressive exhaust note, especially when I floor it.

I was really interested in the MagnaFlow Tru-X resonated X-pipe, but unfortunately it’s been discontinued for a long time and I can’t find one anywhere, not even second-hand. Recently, I found out that the folks at Steeda released a new H/X they call it HEX pipe, and it definitely caught my attention. I’ve watched a couple of videos they posted, and it sounds pretty good.

So I wanted to check with y’all, has anyone here tried it out? Any feedback would be appreciated. I haven’t been able to find any reviews on this pipe yet.

You're not missing anything with the Tru-X resonated, I had it on my car for about an hour before taking it back off. It was almost quieter than stock.

Did you have headers with tru-x? I have kooks headers, tru-x and stock catback and the sound is just amazing as it's civil during daily duties and it screams (in a good way without rasp or drone) wide open throttle.

Without headers, I can see the Tru-X being quieter than stock though.

Magnaflow 11386 + headers = chefs kiss💋

Resonators generally don't help drone. The resonator has packing in it which dissipates sound energy. They will dampen the overall noise, but mostly high frequency rasp and possibly reduce drone as the overall exhaust energy is reduced. Drone is caused by low frequency pulses, and is a byproduct of most aftermarket mufflers who just use perforated pipe and packing. Companies like Corsa and Borla add low frequency cancelling features in the mufflers to cancel out the drone. Adding J pipes creates a Helmholtz resonator which returns the correct pulse back to the exhaust cancelling the low frequencies. I had Magnaflows on many vehicles over the last 20 years, and every car would remove you fillings at 1800 rpm.

I had an axle-back LTH Scorpion exhaust with J-pipes on my 2018 GT with an H-pipe and it was awesome. Not teeth rattling loud, just a nice burble. If you watch the clip below turn the sound way up, hard to record from distance with a phone.

I’ve interested in hearing from people that have this HX pipe.

Steeda HX Pipes
Installed on my 2016 Mustang GT that has Ford Performance Power Pack 2. Very noticeable and visceral improvements in HP TQ smoothness in engine and great sound ! Excellent customer service from Steeda sales/tech Sergio. Very pleased with this pipe!!!

Amazing difference! Sounds fantastic and really lets the supercharged motor breath... you can feel the difference down low and up top. Just what it needed!

H/X Pipe Resonator Delete
Perfect on the Dark Horse with the factory active exhaust. Just enough increase in rawness without the typical obnoxious coyote sound...

Unique Tone for Coyote
Just finished installing this on my Dark Horse, and WOW. It sounds great! It's not as loud as I feared it would be in quiet mode, so that is a major plus as I use this mode to sneak home. I'm not sure it's louder at WOT, but it sounds great driving normal and gives a great blend of an X pipe (smoothness) along with the deepness of an H pipe. Now I'm curious to see what an H pipe only would do. I did not notice any drone either. I do believe this is not a replacement for a cat-back exhaust system, but it certainly makes the stock system sound much better. I purchased my own Walker Mega Clamps (part number 33240) to seal everything up nicely as these always seal up nearly 100%.
