If a setup is trumpety, you'll know it. Sounds like an echo chamber compared to the normal sounds. My pypes 3 inch axle back would do it at certain RPM, my MBRP street system doesn't have any trumpet at all. Matching pipe diameter the whole run helps avoid it, but it really just depends on the setup.

OK so more of a hollow, echoing sound? That makes sense. Trumpets make higher notes and sound smooth when played properly so the word was throwing me off.
